Premier Inn Ayr A77/Racecourse hotel

Dire. I have to agree with the other poor reviews here. Food is nothing short of disgusting. Worst breakfast I've had in a long time. Staff uninterested when it was suggested 8am was too early foe drilling into the floor inside the hotel. Mould on the ceiling. Mould in the kettle. Air con stuck on 22.5 degrees. Carpets threadbare, uneven and not fitted correctly (trip hazard). Complaints procedure not worth the paper its written on so have lost faith with the whole brand and will not use again. I did expect basic but this was awful.

I checked in for 2nights Sat 9th via the website. On arrival I asked about the WiFi and was given a code. When tried the WiFi it wasn’t working. When I went to reception I was informed by a young man behind reception that the WiFi had been down the previous day. I asked when will this be fixed he said he didn’t know. The girl that checked me in was beside him and I asked why she didn’t know the WiFi was down when I previously asked her about it when I checked in. She basically just shrugged her shoulders. So I said I would check out and find another hotel as I need WiFi for work purposes. When I asked for a refund I was told to ring a number. When I called the number I was informed that closed as it was Saturday. So when I asked reception again why they gave me a number that was only Monday to Friday they shrugged their shoulders and said they didn’t know. So I checked out my room absolutely furious with the service. It should have been stated on the website that the WiFi was down before I paid for my room online. This is an absolute disgrace and I won’t be using this hotel Again especially with the attitude of the staff at reception. I hope I get my refund on Monday when I phone the customer service number!!

It's a nice looking hotel and is having building work done at the moment, (would have liked to know this when booking the room), didn't find out until I checked in and the noise started at 8am on the button.Was given the disabled room which was an absolute nightmare, the bed was practically on the floor, and one of the most uncomfortable I've ever slept in, tv was in the weirdest position on the wall making it a pain to watch, beds were 2 singles pushed together but with single mattresses so couldn't be used as a double, had a six hour drive to get here and didn't sleep, sinks were all way to low so couldn't use with ease.You should be warned if you are getting a disability room, so you have the option to sleep in the car.All in all, I was grand when I arrived, felt disabled when I left.On the plus side the lady who booked me in was nice.

The room was very cold and the heater would not come on. This made bedding a little damp. The receptionist tried to help but wound up giving us a plug in oil filled radiator. The heating did come on at 9.30 but went off soon afterwards. When we complained to Customer services they said the heating was working fine and we were wrong.

The stuff was very friendly and instantly dig their jobs by selling the restaurant. The food was poor in the restaurant. Badly cooked I had I start her of humus which came with a bread that is obviously been left for weeks. It was so hard and dry. It was more like a lump of stone. The main course was a pie that they had burnt all around the edges but the mash and the veg was lovely. The room was a good size but the beds were small. We had a disability room and it had all the rails in the walking shower. The shower was powerful but only one though. I would stay there again. I would not eat in the restaurant the breakfast. If you get down early in the morning would be okay but we came down at 10:00 half an hour before finishing and it was barely warm and very little of it. It was certainly not worth the money for the breakfast. All the meal. The bar was okay but poorly stopped

Back from a 3 night stay, staff were very pleasant but overworked only 3 staff members having to cover the reception, bar and restaurant in the evening and the Hotel was very busy. We found the meal deal very good value. Was not aware that there was no Housekeeping. We had to ask for clean towels .therefore no bins emptied or toilet cleaned.

Positives first- friendly service at breakfast. One member of staff was lovely & nothing was too much bother. Sadly didn’t get her name. Hotel clean & usual Premier Inn look.We had breakfast. Plenty of food out even at 10am. Had to ask for fried eggs which wasn’t a problem as I knew it was freshly made. Could have been more selection of yogurts, my only complaint about it all.Not so good- check in was not that welcoming, but ok. Room was a lot smaller than other Premier Inn rooms we have stayed in previously. Beds were comfy but double bed was very high. Room was clean, but had a few things that let it down. Damp in bathroom, shower curtain was cheap & not big enough to keep water in shower! Water everywhere. Toilet door was all shredded at the bottom. Curtains had rips in them which had been badly mended. Peeling paint on ceiling. Not enough sockets beside bed. Slot for putting card in kept falling to pieces. Basically room was tired & dated.Top floor was being refurbished. So hopefully this will continue throughout the rest of the hotel.Would use again though. As it is convenient for exploring area.

Without a doubt the worst Premier Inn I've ever stayed in. I expect basic from the Premier Inn but even my basic expectation wasn't met. Advice would be to pay a little extra and stay in another hotel. Based on my experience I won't use Premier Inn again because even their complaints handling was shocking. Pink mould in the room kettle, air con stuck on 22.5 degrees (others in the family had no heating). Mould on the ceiling in the bathroom. Advised of minor disruption from 9am, had workmen drilling into the floors from 8am. One of our party complained 8am was ridiculous and was met with a shrug. Cleaning staff not treated well, can hear them complaining about what an awful place it is to work along the corridor. Breakfast was grim. Coffee machine not working, no eggs, no beans and hot plate food all cool and solid, had been there for hours. Machinery in the car park causing noise but i know that can't be controlled. Complained to premier inn and they offered a refund on breakfast but failed to address the issues inside the hotel so I doubt they'll ever improve if that's their attitude. Lesson learned, spend a little more and stay at a good hotel, there are plenty in the area. Work your way through google and tripadvisor reviews, people have been experiencing the same for a long time, wish I'd checked them before booking. Won't be using premier inn again.

Hated it here, booked a double room, got a twin. Had fans running outside all night long, had no sleep at all. No one on desk at checkout to report it to, food was just warm enough to eat. The only good thing I can say about it is, the Tennants was good. For sure will NOT be returning. So fair warning ⚠️⚠️⚠️ if you get room 102. IT ALSO STINKS OF DOG. Reported online, response was NEGATIVE. So I would think twice before staying here.
