Skerryvore Lighthouse Museum
A great museum telling the story of the Lighthouse. Good displays of the models and the information boards. Outside you can see the buildings set out around the area. If up to a walk you can see Skerryvore Lighthouse from the quarry. Down side is the road to the car park has a large pothole, beware.

A very interesting museum, showing the history of the building of the lighthouse, makes you think of the hard ship these men went through.

A charity has been restoring these buildings. Skerryvore is a truly outstanding engineering feat. Built from granite by the famous Alan Stevenson. The exhibition is free but I hope you would donate. It’s a great story well told. Lots to see and read. Highly recommended.

Brilliant little museum. Small enough to do in half an hour or so but amazingly detailed and genuinely fascinating. Plus it has a great cake/coffee shop just across the harbour. (The photo is the housing for the lighthouse keepers which are done in an Egyptian style (see I learned that)).

Unmanned and free entry. Really interesting insight into the lighthouse history, construction, and maintenence. Worth a visit for sure! And the site of the museum itself is picturesque.

The tallest lighthouse in the U.K.Magnificent!Took a RIB trip run with Tiree Sea Tours to see the structure on it's reef and marvelled at the bravery and ingenuity of the Stevensons and their employees. Also saw lots of wildlife during the trip, a huge variety of seabirds, seals, dolphins, porpoises and Minke whales.Well organized and helpful crew. After lunch we went to the museum which is free (donations expected) .Very informative information boards, artefacts and buildings including an ingenious dry dock.Highly recommended!
