All Saints
The church west tower is 18th century being built of red brick with a weather-boarded upper storey and a pyramid roof, and a south porch of red brick. The nave is 12th century and was lengthened at a later date, whilst the chancel is early 14th century. The church is normally open for viewing.

Lovely open church with the unusual and welcome coffee making facilities and a box of biscuits to enjoy. Peaceful. Well looked after.

All Saints
All Saints is an attractive, traditional Essex rural church with quite a magical & unusual churchyard that feels alike a flowery woodland glade. Great Oakley church is notable for its red-brick building, but with a wooden tower design. All Saints nestles in an unspoilt, tranquil churchyard with some very old gravestones. The churchyard has further endearing peculiarities, most notably a collection of children's plastic toys & gumboots! All Saints sits on the hilltop, so far outside Great Oakley village it's actually closer to Stones Green or Wix. It's not easy to find because it's sited on a sideroad junction, & far enough from the main road to feel isolated & secluded. Unfortunately, the sister church in neighbouring Little Oakley has been converted for residential use & is not open to the public. However, All Saints has a similar design to the remaining, local outlaying churches at Wix & Wrabness, with a design that originally lacked a tower. The church runs a book exchange/sale scheme, & generously provides self-service refreshments.
