Apparently:• Trajan never visited The British Isles.• A possibly apocryphal account suggests the bronze was found on a scrapyard in Southampton.• The original Wall was commissioned during his reign• Installed here in 1980, adding a period theatrical touch to frankly... an old wall.• It’s all about the finger.

It's a statue of Emperor Trajan. Don't suppose it's the original item as site very exposed. Crazy mixture of Roman and modern here plus access to Tower of London. Not an attractive place to stop with crowds and traffic.

Emperor Trajan Statue
This statue of Emperor Trajan is an unusual, late 20th century addition to one of the remaining sections of London's original wall.Whilst being regarded as an all-round good ruler, Trajan never visited Britain. Perhaps Hadrian would have been a better subject for the statue, but I guess we can't have it all.
