The Slaney Language Centre

I have just completed my online courses at Slaney School. Susan was my teacher. I am immensely happy that fate gave me a chance to improve and develop my English with her. Even though I only had 8 online classes, Susan helped me get through the difficult aspects of English grammar and vocabulary. I began to feel confident in my speech. This summer my family came back again to Wexford and our daughters (12 and 10) have joined the language courses the third time. I’d like to share the reasons why we decided again for this school although I did some research after every time to find the best deal:- The kids love the courses and to go every morning in the school. The teachers are able to inspire them. I’m not the expert how they do it but I hear from my kids that they worked in groups and played a lot.- The afternoon and evening activities are optional. This is important for us because kids of different ages have different interests and I do not have to pre-book the whole week when I know that parts of the programs are just no the right ones for them. Yesterday we had the crab fishing (where on the end all crabs were released back to the sea): huge fun for very reasonable price. And what I haven’t found anywhere yet: although me and my wife do not attend the language courses, we can also join the activities with our kids.Finally some additional aspects, which can be interesting for someone: not so much students from German speaking countries (good for us as we come from Austria), the school building is centrally located and there is enough space, best weather within Ireland, nice beaches.I’m sure that we will come back again.

It's pretty good but still it's way is too narrow

They try to do their best, they are nice and hardworking but the service is poor. The center is small so they can not create very focused groups and their teaching model is very classic although our classes took place during the summer. They are no longer in the castle but in a building with very limited common areas. Due to the limited number of students they hold, the activities they organize are not very ambitious and are not focused on age or interests, they can't. The town is small so there are few families to host, and the best houses are outside the town, which implies transport. Although they always tried to help during our stage we did not have a good time with them, we had some problems with the host families they selected for us. A good point is that Its price is adjusted compared to other offers. In any case I'm not going to repeat. We would look for a better offer.

Know nothing about the language centre but we were at a wedding in the castle. It's not actually an old castle but rather newly built. Large bar and reception rooms. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food and drinks very good. Lovely grounds nearby with beautiful thoroughbred horses. Plenty pf parking. Some outdoor seating. Breakfast is in the old stables building which is very nicely restored.
