Lovely local pub. It looks just like any other from the outside, but the insides are very nicely decorated, warm, and inviting. We were taken to a table and placed our order. The Sunday two course special ( Sunday roast and sticky toffee pudding) and fish and chips. Both plates that came to the table were of huge portions, the roast was juicy, succulent, tasted really nice and cooked perfectly but as it was off a joint if you don't like your meat pink then ask for something else. The cauliflower and cheese sauce, shredded cabbage, roast potatoes, and carrots that came with the roast again, cooked perfectly and were really tasty. The sticky toffee pudding was delicious. It was a nice piece of fish with crunchy batter. The mushy peas could have been a bit mushier, and the chips were a bit dry on the outside but light and fluffy on the inside. There is a 10% service charge added onto the bill. The servers were polite, prompt, and well presented. They asked how our meal was and if we would like anything else, and we noticed once a customer left the table, it was immediately cleaned, disinfected, and set up ready for the next customer. Fantastic service from the servers, they are a credit to the establishment. The toilets were clean and tidy, watch when using the taps in the Gents, the water pressure is quite strong this combined with the small sinks does tend to shoot the water up and over onto the floor, or over you if you are not careful. This is a dog friendly establishment. Good food, fantastic service, well done.

Excellent meal, really lovely staff who are also very attentive. Dog friendly which is a huge bonus. There was lobster on the specials and it was delicious. We also had venison and fillet steak at the table and it was all excellent. £8 for a kids main plus ice cream was also a good deal and the wee one loved it.

A lovely place with tasty food but the service was a little slow. Went with friends for lunch and all 4 of us had the Sunday roast. The portions varied quite a lot from plate to plate with some items on some plates but not all. Both the starters and desserts were delicious

Went for an early dinner with no reservation. Decor really nice and bar & dining room are combined, which was perfect for us but might cause an issue depending on the ‘merriment’ of those at the bar later in the evening…Quality of the food was excellent. We’re just back from Tuscany so I went to the tomato, Burrata and basil salad. It was a fantastic, well balanced and beautifully presented dish.Special mention goes to the Cheese and Leek loaf, served just out of the over with whipped butter. Worth a visit just for this alone! We’ll definitely be back…

Very enjoyable first experience at The Forager. We had the Tomahawk sharing steak as part of an itison deal, and it was first class.Service was excellent, and the atmosphere was very homely and chilled and not pretentious. The rest of the menu looked very good and not overly expensive for the calibre of food you are served. We wish the Forager and its staff well and look forward to returning in the near future

Just had dinner here and honestly can say, we will never return again. Not only was the service extremely poor, alongside their lack of menu knowledge, there was also no sign of common politeness coming from and of the staff. None of them looked as though they wanted to be there. The meals dumped on the table by staff without a word of enjoy your meals or offering any sauces for our chips. They were tasteless and portions were small, especially for the price that we had to pay for each meal. Service was slow. Took about 30 minutes to get our main course. No one communicated with us any delays or apologies.I had the steak pie and I can't be sure what made up the £19 I paid for it... The small portion of skinny chips, the half a carrot or the tiny over seasoned steak pie?You always hope the poor reviews don't live up to their expectations, but I can safely say, they do. I'm happy to pay higher prices for smaller portions albeit the service and quality of the product is good, this was not that.Lastly, I am also not happy about an added 10% service charge without option or choice to give one. I certainly would not have given one.Don't go, save your money and your time. Would not recommend..

Lovely atmosphere and nice decor. Service was a little disappointing given the number of staff on duty. We were seated without menus, had to ask for more drinks, the salt celler was empty and a member of staff was unsure of what dessert she was serving us. Clearing between couses was slow and we had to ask for the dessert menu and then for our order to be taken. We only realised at the end of the meal that 2 of our party only received 1 slice of beef while we has 2 along with the veg portions being a little on the small side. Hot chocolate and coffee were room temp.Would we go back yes, I think it is unfortunate that when one or two things let slip in service it becomes the focus. However, we were with friends and did not let this spoil our overall experience as the quality and flavours of all the courses were amazing, and the beef just melted in your mouth.

It was fine. We had a voucher, which meant we didn't get the full menu. I personally thought that menu was a bit sad, with the mains being fish and chips, burger and chips or butternut squash curry. I chose to pay more and have the pie off the main menu. The other disappointment was the baba ganoush tart. It tasted nice but the filo tart pastry was totally softened on the base due to the moisture. It was all OK, but would have expected better from Dean.

A nice pub with a good menu-not huge, but with plenty of good options available. We enjoyed our steak and fish mains as well as our sticky toffee pudding and chocolate fondant puddings. Well worth a trip!
