Gourmade

Love their Butternut Squash Lasagne, We’re not veggies but they put so much care into making these we prefer them to the traditional meat version. They taste wonderful.

Since my unfortunate experience with a Lemon Roulade I have tried some of the other dessets from Gourmade.The Pear Bakewell is top notch. A proper pear and lovely almond inside crispy buttery pastry. I'll have another of those, please !The Raspberry Cheesecake was good too. Really fresh tasting raspberries and a good flavour to the topping.What an absolute let down! It was my birthday yesterday so I thought I'd treat myself to something yummy and picked the Sicilian lemon roulade. At more than a fiver it wasn't cheap. It says light and fresh on the box but this couldn't be further from the truth. It was so stuck together at the bottom I couldn't get a spoon through it so wasnt going to risk my teeth. The fresh dairy cream was practically non existent and the crunchy meringue top had crumbled into a load of crumbs in the bottom of the box. It went straight in the bin. What a shame. They look so tempting on the box so maybe I got a duff one but at the price I shan't take the risk again.Gourmade got in touch with me as soon as I'd posted this review. I have to say their customer service was superb and I have since tried some of their other products which were excellent. I really think I had a one off bad experience.

We had a Gourmade Lamb Tagline which was great, good portion size - as it easily fed two. It had tender lamb , chickpeas and lovely spices. Served it with some cous cous. Would happily order this again.We also tried their Pear Bakewell Tarts and again we're very pleased with the size, taste and quality. Probably the first time we'veve ever found a ready meal to beat expectation. Well done Gourmade - love the packaging too ❤️

I can't believe they charge £5-£10 for a frozen meal that looks like something out of Icelands discount range. I got my meal for half price and it's usually £5 and I still felt ripped off. there was hardly anything in it, it didn't look to appetising either, and it had absolutely no taste, very watery and altogether unpleasant. Not surprised they're flogging these half price. Criminal that anyone would charge that price for this horrendous meals that aren't even worth a pound.

I can see I am Not alone in my experience of Very Disappointing Cottage Pie for 2 - watery mash, soggy potato & hardly any meat - not minced but shredded. Gourmade told me they had no other complaints but they offered to replace with an alternative meal for 2 of Choice and told me the day to expect it . When I informed them it had not arrived they told me it was because they had not sent it and still have not several weeks later Excuse for their poor Customer Service was the Pandemic but I did not need reminding several times to make allowances for it as I had already done so - being fully aware of it. The fact it took 5/6 weeks to come back to me in the first instance was another reason they felt they should send complimentary meal.Cannot review that one as it never was sent.

Tried the Chilli Con Carne today. Could only manage one spoonful as it was so incredibly hot. Never had anything so hot. Completely inedible. If you'd put a 3 chilli symbol on the box I would never have bought it. Will be very reluctant to buy any of your ready meals again

I have just had the bouef bourginon. I cant dress it up any other way than it was awful. I appreciate frozen convenience foods cant match fresh but this tasted of cardboard. Won't be buying again

I bought a Lamb Tagine and Chicken & Ham Pie at half price and it was no better than 99p meals - runny sauces, lack of structure and depth of flavour, and the pastry was disappointing. In their defence they are quite generous with the meat but this does not compensate for the overall experience of the meal.

The sticky toffee puddings didn’t list dates in the ingredients which I found odd. The cooking instructions were also strange: “Microwave on full power from frozen for 20-30 seconds”. That didn’t even thaw them out, let alone bring them up to temperature. These are essentially sponge cakes with a toffee sauce - not, sadly, sticky toffee puddings. They tasted all right but it’s not what I was expecting.Your labelling is very confusing. The top of the packaging suggests it’s best thawed then cooked in an oven. The instructions on the back recommend microwaving from frozen. Have you actually tried this yourselves? I have two more of these in the deep freeze. I’m unlikely to buy any more and, if this is typical of your products, I’m even less likely to try anything else. Sorry to be so negative.

Every meal I have tried from Gourmade has been lovely. The Butternut Squash Lasagne is amazing (especially as it works in the microwave so I don't have to wait!) and great for a lazy person like me who wants to eat more sustainably.The desserts are delicious - I get them for me and when I have people over. The roulades are delicious (I like the raspberry one best, but my son loves the salted caramel and chocolate ones!), and the chocolate pudding is the best 30 seconds invested in a microwave!I've also sent their New Baby Hamper to a friend who lives a long way from me, and it has gone down a treat!Would love more sides to choose from to go with e.g. the Lamb Tagine, which is delicious, or the curries.
