This is a charming, quirky cafe, which offers great quality coffee, sandwiches, cakes and snacks, complimenting the well chosen vintage furniture and tasteful pieces, alongside Annie Sloane paints and classes. Always changing stock and never predictable or boring. These guys are both so lovely, (Michael has a cheeky dry humour, understood and appreciated by his regular clientele.)A great little oasis just off the fairly mundane main road shopping area.

Quirky lunch location, boundary road, Portslade is changing, in my opinion, for the better. The cafe is good for lunch - tuna melt is very tasty and decent coffee.

Can't help but feel the owner of this place imagines it's in Chelsea but is irked that it's just off Portslade high street instead. Been on several occasions and been made to feel unwelcome the minute the male owner is there, a shame as the ladies who work there are welcoming and courteous. Seen him react to the more colourful locals on a few occasions...and been told that vaping is not allowed outside. Maybe it's because we have a little dog, or our faces don't seem to fit for him but we've seen enough to not want to go back. Shame as they have the nicest coffee in town.

What a great find: Best tea and coffee for miles around (iced is a favourite), a delicious range of sandwiches, soups, snacks and cakes, all served in a treasure trove of antiques, gifts and creatively restored retro furniture. There's a log burner to warm you when there's a chill, and a sunny front terrace to enjoy on a summer's day. This haven is run by a delightful couple, Michael and Jane, who make you feel instantly welcome, ably assisted by a happy team of family and friends. Highly recommended.

Always get a takeway coffee here, best taste to price ratio by far. I've not eaten in there but the food options look very nice too.

Firstly I'd like to say that I've thought long and hard about leaving this review for Franklins - partly because I don't like leaving bad reviews for establishments and partly because it's just one arrogant individual who ruins it all for everyone else who works here. However the person I'm referring to is one half of it's owners, Micheal Keehan. All the other staff including his wife Jane are lovely, very friendly and they make you feel very welcome and make a fuss of our dog. However Micheal Keehan is quite the opposite. The first time I came in contact with him was on our first visit, where another member of staff gladly provided us with a plastic bowl of water for our dog. Upon leaving he came over and asked what the bowl was doing on the floor and said there's a bowl outside for dogs in a off manner. I briefly explained that our dog doesn't like shinny bowls and his colleague provided me with a old plastic bowl, to which he shrugged his shoulders to a degree and pulled a face that was very snooty and unwelcoming. I let this go as I really like the place, and I wanted to return. After a few visits my second issue with him took place. It was Christmas and he was selling trees outside. A member of the public enquired how much a tree was and then upon finding out she said ok I might come back later" and she walked away. He then said rather loudly "might - well it might of gone up later" in a dismissive arrogant snobby way

I called Franklin's about paint samples and to discuss some techniques, Janie was extremely helpful and gave really useful tips and advice. I then ordered painted to collect which worked easily. I look forward to their store being open for looking around as it would seem they have loads of exciting furniture pieces.

Lovely place. Friendly staff, delicious food and a good range of drinks. Coffee is excellent. The setting in the antique shop - which used to be a garage - is very appealing.Would have got 5 stars but there were dogs in the cafe area.
