Boleyn Ground Memorial Garden

Once Upon a time in this very spot was the church of a religion that had no God involved. Instead of Sunday mornings the service was held on Saturday afternoons at 3pm, sometimes 12pm depending who else was attending the service. Every so often there would be a midweek service held at night, nothing quite like a night under the lights. The church had 2 names, The Boleyn Ground or its much preferred name Upton Park, the home of West Ham United, home of the 3 famous sons Geoff, Martin and Bobby. You can still see them on the Green st and Barking road junction. This was where fortunes always hid and dreams faded and died but every other week that wouldn’t get in the way of wanting to go back. The home where Di Canio scored that goal, Hurst hit Sunderland for 6, a Brooking masterclass against Frankfurt, heroic Miklosko foiled United, Tevez went wild, Adrian made Everton pay the penalty and where Reid leaped high to secure a final win. Right in this very spot was the home for so many, the home of memories that will live forever, a place that will always be missed but never be forgotten. I was there once some years ago at a nice match. Fredik Ljungberg was in the team and Tevez left a year ago I think.What a nice stadium and the main stand was so superb an iconic.
