If you are buying cheese this is THE place to go. Any true cheese-appreciator (or dare I say, aficionado) will love this shop!They have something for everyone, are incredibly knowledgeable and stock an amazing range of local cheeses.Come Christmas it is advisable to order ahead (if you can, though half the fun is looking in the counter and trying everything) as the queue is out of the door and it isn't unusual to have to wait 20 minutes or so to be served. This is far from a problem when you realise the service you get; select your cheese, try it if you aren't sure and then wait while it is sliced, wrapped and labelled by hand.They also sell all cheese-related accompaniments for people who actually put cheese on things rather than eating it in lumps.

Fantastic cheeses! As a wedding gift, we recieved a tower of cheese from Country Cheeses which was delicious. Everyone loved them and it was a huge hit! Would definitely recommend.

Excellent cheese spoilt by the rudest and most unpleasant staff I’ve ever come across. No prices on anything. We would have gone back but would rather have spent our money somewhere where they knew how to treat their customers.

We were visiting Tavistock on holiday and noticed this lovely unique cheese shop. Having spent £20 on 3 cheeses we continued on our journey home. This was on the 26th of August. When we put the cheeses in our chiller we noticed the Sharpham Brie sell by date was the 28th of August. Why would you charge premium prices? Had the cheese been self serving I would never have bought it but it was counter served so I couldn’t check the date.I feel cheated.
