Guildford Nursery School and Family Centre

We can only recommend Children's centre at Hazel Avenue. Our son loved spending time in there and had a lovely time! All of the staff are extremely helpful and friendly and nourishing. Our son's felt loved and safe! His key person Wendy is lovely, supporting of children and parents too. She was brilliant to our son and he considered her as his best friend! He had also spent lots of time with Chantal who is also brilliant! We are really grateful to all of the staff who helped looking after our boy! Thank you Children's Centre!

A wonderful nursery, a great team, an ideal environment for children. Our daughter will always remember this wonderful time at GNS. During these 2 years she has changed. She is bolder, bolder, and plays with children. And most importantly, her English is so good thanks to attending a Nursery, that she can easily cope with the new school. The ladies did a great job, I will never forget how much patience and heart they gave to my daughter when she was afraid at first to be left without her mother.

I can’t recommend this place highly enough for anyone looking for a brilliant nursery for their child. My daughter has just spent two very happy years at York Road Nursery.Every member of staff is kind, friendly and professional, without exception.Like many people, I was nervous about leaving my daughter somewhere new but from day one my fears were alleviated because I could see how much the staff genuinely care for the children and how well looked after they are. I believe it is a real bonus that they are qualified teachers too which has really helped to prepare my daughter for school.There is a big emphasis on spending time outdoors and my daughter absolutely loved her time at forest school.Thank you to everyone at the centre - I know she’ll miss going there every day!

Navya has loved this nursery within few days of starting. She struggled with the other nursery but with this she was so happy and has made new friends easily. She has become very confident and especially her teacher chantal has been amazing in helping her to be more independent and and has dealt with any concerns that I have so well. Also other teachers are always positive and happy with the kids. This nursery really plays an important role to giving kids their independence, being creative and increasing their love for reading and I'm happy that I can feel at ease knowing she's happy at her nursery.

My son has recently started at Hazel Avenue. With the pandemic it was a scary time but I can't recommend them highly enough. He loves his time at nursery and it really is a lovely, gentle nurturing environment. All the staff I've met are lovely and have gone above and beyond to be flexible with my work commitments. My daughter joined this nursery at the age of 3 and has absolutely flourished! She is 1000% ready for school!We left a privately run nursery due to concerns and issues and this was the best decision I made for my child. We had a home visit before she started and got to know the key workers in her room, Karen has been amazing, supportive and a key role in my child’s development.The out door play space is impressive , my daughter has planted vegetables and seen chicks hatch! They do so some much with the children and my daughter prides in telling me about it everyday!My daughter is now moving on to primary school with the most amazing memories of her nursery years! I have absolutely nothing but positive things to say about Guildford Nursery and Family center. When my 2 year old son joined he was very shy, he struggled to participate in activities nor would he willingly interact with he's peers. He's now doing amazing thanks to the perseverance of all of the staff members there including the lady who works in reception. They get to know each child individually and work with them to encourage growth in any and every area.I couldn't recommend this Nursery to another family more.

We love that nursery, our both son and daughter went there, the kids were well cared, looked after , the key person Chantal and Joe was very helpful, always passing the information regarding the kids wellbeing. My son went to Guildford Nursery/Hazel Avenue for two years. I can't recommend it highly enough. My son flourished physically, mentally and emotionally and has become a confident, creative and an independent kid. Except for the first week when we received exceptional support from the nursery staff for his settling in, he went there happily and cheerfully every day. Every morning, he was met by the kind, and caring staff with a big smile on their faces. He spent time in the nursery experiencing quite a range of activities with plenty of different materials, and enjoyed the spacious garden exploring nature and having the opportunity to play with various toys. Having spent there two happy years, he has already missed Guildford Nursery!

My son started nursery in Jan and the change in him has been incredible. He has responded in an overwhelming positive way to the Guildford Nursery School environment which has taught him to be more independent and aided him in how to best interact with his peers. He is happiest when he is outside and the nursery encourages the children to make the most of the fantastic outdoor spaces. He comes home everyday with a new story of what he has been up to and as his time there has continued he seems to get more and more out of his days.Updating this review as my child is now ending his time at the nursery. We still feel as positive as ever that this is an excellent pre-school environment. My child has come on leaps and bounds this year and the nursery have done so much to help him get ready for school. The teachers are outstanding in terms of their attitude towards the children, their commitment to learning and how they partner with parents to help with the development of the children in their care. Every single one of them has had a positive impact on my child and his ability to establish relationships with his peers and other adults outside of the home. We will definitely be returning in a few years with my younger child and we will miss it immensely.
