Don't bother with the tearoom up the road, which by the way was closed, as the cakes sold at Palace Stores are the best i've had in some time, and i know! having stopped off at many a tearoom to reach Orkney, Mmm Mmm moist, fresh,light and generous. We sampled the cherry cake and the Beremeal (ground barley) date and Orkney fudge cake. Both were delicious and handmade by the friendly shop owner. They also sell fresh crab rolls (sadly they'd sold out as we arrived late afternoon) and Orkney ice cream along with many other tasty treats.

Went in slightly hung over, met some very friendly, helpful young ladies who sorted me out with lucozade ,ginger beer, orange juice,some breakfast rolls and a cheeky bag of sweet chilli crisps.Crackin shop,lovely ladies.cheers.Sore head cured!

Had basic coffee, rolls, sweets and various other items like gifts, crisps, candy. Unsure if petrol pump works as I did not try it. Toilet is down the road. Good stop before or after going to area stops.

Great shop with food, ice cream and crafts. Post office onsite to send the one you buy. Got a 99 icecream which was great.

Absolute gem of a shop in a fantastic location, Has everything you could need including Soft whippy ice cream [ what else do you need....}Staff super friendly and informative about the area.See you again this July 2022
