There were flys buzzing around the cakes. As we wanted a whole we asked if they could get one from the fridge. They refused and became really argumentative. Its a shame i didn't film their behaviour as it was pretty embarrassing for them. I haven't considered going back since. I suggest 40 cakes in morden instead if you want a fresh cake.

Very varying experiences here. The food is nice overall. I had one of the sandwiches off the festive menu which came with chips and tasted good, although the bread was very dry as it had been overtoasted. My mum had the Quiche Lorraine which she really enjoyed. The cakes are excellent, especially the strawberry tarts. However, we did feel quite let down by the service, especially considering the price you pay. Wouldn't be in a hurry to return.

Had a delicious afternoon tea. Because it was Saturday lunchtime it was slightly slow to get our order, but the service was very friendly and helpful, and the food yummy.

Haven’t been back to this store for a while. We had festive afternoon tea but it was not ‘festive’ as expected. However, the food was still good overall. The scones were soft and moist, the sandwiches were yummy. Customer service has improved a lot now. The waiter was very nice and attentive. My daughter enjoyed a lot. We will be back again. Thank you

Fantastic coffee. Picked up a lunch pack for a birthday treat and had coffee in the store. Wow! To the coffee,, so creamy and flavoursome without being bitter. 5*

We had the afternoon tea for 2, and we had a somewhat mixed experience...Positives - the tea was nice, although a limited selection is available at least there is some selection, the cakes and scones were rather lovely. When we asked they swapped some of the little pots of jam for flavours we like.Negatives - the service was painfully slow. From ordering it took almost 45 mins for them to bring our food, and we had a 2 year old with us. While the scones were nice, they could have been made fresh from scratch in that time and they were not. The bread on the sandwiches was bordering on stale - but probably from having been left out so long before reaching us. The staff aren't the most efficient or attentive, we had to ask for cutlery and jam as they forgotWe've previously been here on a fair few occasions and have had better service most of the time.Update 14/12/2019The service here has become abysmal. We arrived at 0915 when the restaurant had only 10 other customers - probably at about 15% capacity. We waited over 15 minutes before our order was taken and we ordered small items from the breakfast menu, one of which was toast for our 3 year old. Over 45 mins later and the food was only lukewarm and the portions were far too small and the general quality too low for the priceThe staff were rude when we made our disappointment clear, but the manager was apologetic and offered a small discountWe won't be back in a hurry

Appallingly service, and unidentifiable member of staff yelling across the restaurant whist seated at the table about guests using the facilities, no apologies lied to when raising the fact I had just used the facilities and they were in perfect working order, so unsure how they broke" so quick between me and my small child wanting to use them

It was a lovely afternoon spent here with my wife and children on Mothers Day. No booking was required and staff were very happy to take our voucher for afternoon tea. The food was great, and the service was excellent. They even provided the children with free hot chocolate" which was served just right for them to drink. Impressive!"

Visited today for an afternoon tea with a friend, both of us local. The cafe was quiet which was good as there was only one member of staff on duty when we arrived as her colleague was on a break. Nonetheless, our order was taken quickly and brought to us promptly. We had a voucher for an afternoon tea and the paper voucher was accepted without any issues. I would suggest that it would be good if the question regarding any dietary intolerances was asked at the point of ordering, although of course if we had had any, it is also our responsibility to tell the staff. The afternoon tea was served quickly, however, no explanation was provided as to what the sandwiches contained or what the cakes were. The sandwiches were all freshly made and delicious - our highlight. The scones were large, fresh and still warm. Very nice. Several jams/marmalades and cream were provided as were bottomless hot drinks. The three different cakes were sweet and light and we took most of these home being too full to finish them. The staff member happily provided us with a box to do so.Overall, I would recommend afternoon tea at Patisserie Valerie in Sutton if you want a low key, great value experience.Don't forget to tip if you think the service deserves it :)
