High Gear Service

Professional, knowledgeable and reliable, these guys are straight talking and honest experts of the highest caliber! I honestly cannot recommend highly enough. Before coming to High Gear Service (as I didn’t know about them at the time) I had taken my car to several other garages for diagnostics but they failed to find out what the awful noise was that was coming from the engine area of my Audi. Fortunately, Errol was able to pinpoint the problem almost immediately for me! As he wanted to give me peace of mind, he insisted I continue with the test drive for a further 45 minutes so he could be certain and further define exactly where the noise was coming from and what it was. This guy is the horse whisperer of the car world and is a true credit to the industry! Thank you Errol – you are the man!

Spoke to Errol, who was only to happy to share his wisdom, preventing me from buying a van with a problem. I don't now currently need a gearbox specialist but I know who I will call when I do...

I called them today as I needed some advice on the gearbox I was about to have replaced through another mechanic (and whether that was actually needed), so I wanted some advice from a gearbox specialist. I didn’t take his name, but I’ll assume it was Errol based on other reviews here.He was not only helpful, but seemed genuinely interested in helping me solve the problem. Although I didn’t actually make use of their services this time, I’ll be keeping them in mind for the future when my car next needs coaxing back to life.

If in need of repair of your gear box I recommend these guys who was fantastic and told me straight away what the problem was and saved me a lot of money as I went to mr clutch and they wanted to charge me £84 to strip my gearbox down to find the problem.Well it turns out it’s a outer gearbox problem which means there was no need to strip my gearbox down which saved me a lot of money, a big thank you to Herrol ☺️This proves it’s always good to get a second opinion before paying out unnecessary money.

What a lovely helpful gent Errol is, nothing too much trouble, had a look at my car the same day and told me what the problem was straight away.He sorted out my gearbox within hours.Fantastic Errol thank you very much.Would not hesitate to use high gear again and would definitely recommend to anyone .

Very helpful, they found the problem right away and reassured me that the fix wouldn't be too expensive when halfords had said it might be too expensive to be worth it for the price of the car!

What a thoroughly nice chap Herrol is, we went for a short test-drive during which he diagnosed my cars noise problem, wheel bearing rather than differential. He was spot on...new bearing... all quiet! He didn't charge for his time either. Would highly recommend. Steve S.
