It was not accessible when I visited as repairs were underway but could still be viewed. There were several permanent information boards plus extra added to the safety fences.

Interesting building but in truth nothing outstanding or special perhaps there are times you can go in, this was not one of them. Better things to see and do in Prestonpans to be honest.

This is the hidden gem of East Lothian. Beautiful, quiet and restful. Well worth a visit. Lovely place to sit and have a coffee.

Couldn't go inside,as to be expected. Good for a walk around, as their was some windows to look through but their is a very nice well kept park area that would be nice to have a picnic on.

Great for a nice walk and take the kids on a nice day. Lots of space and look forward to the new renovation on the tower.

In the middle of a modern day housing estate in Prestonpans you will find a rather magnificent 14th century tower in the middle of a grass lawn! The tower has seen a lot of action (wars, riots and battles) between C14 and C18, in particular the 1745 Battle of Prestonpans in which the Jacobite rising army supporting James Francis Edward Stuart defeated that of the Hanovarian King George 11.The buildings and site are now owned by the National Trust for Scotland. At the opposite end of the site from the tower there is a doocot of unusual design. The site is not staffed, and there are no facilities. It is free to visit and definitely worth seeking out and visiting as you travel through the small East Lothian town of Prestonpans.
