Cafe is nice, and the park is good for the kids, pond needs clearing out but other than that, it's ok

Middleton Park Lake
Good place to take kids as plenty of space to run around and a also a park. Also suitable for people who like walks as there's loads of woods. Perfect for dog walkers as plenty of space for them to run around

Middleton Park Lake
A great pond with good biodiversity. Sad that people reduce this biodiversity by fishing.

Middleton Park Lake
Once well used by fishermen and to dump stolen cars in. This very nice... er.. ok let's be generous and call it a lake, it's not really a lake though is it, it's a big man made pond. Any ways, it once had a few lake side cottages that were lived in and open as a much needed café. But due to, shall we say the more vigorously stupid teens in the area they were vandalized an eventually renovated, i.e. pulled down. The park itself is one of Leeds 3 great parks boasting original ancient woodland and part home, (the rail traks end just in side the park), to the World's oldest steam powered railway. That's the oldest one in the whole world! Yes you should be impressed. It was run to service Middleton coal mine. Who's methane gas still seeps out into the surrounding housing estates. You can occasionally see men going around taking gas measurements from unusual looking pipes protruding from wall's.It was also home to a larger mansion and rosé garden. But again the building was given the vigorous attention of local dimwits and was also dully renovated. See if you can find where it used to be!Running along the back of the park is a well built but narrow gravel road. This was at one time the Blue Bell tram line and is a nice way to walk. Where you can play spot the burnt out car or see how many glue bags you can see. Lots of fun for the family.Though in an attempt to clean the park up there is now a visitor center an actual paths layed down so hopefully it will be regain it's more friendly atmosphere
