We ordered our Nordmann Fir from John and despite him working into the wee hours fitting out and preparing the new Southside shop he went out his way to make sure it was with us on the day we planned to put it up, delivering it at 2.30 am that morning.The tree was perfect, looked freshly cut and is no doubt the best real tree we've ever had, the extra effort made it noteworthy experience and I wish him and Nicola all the best in the new shop.Hopefully he's not out delivering on the 24th or he'll be getting in the way of the big man himself!Thanks again.John, Michelle, Freya and Euan.

I received the most gorgeous hand tied bouquet of flowers for my birthday, sent by a friend who lives down south. I’m so glad he chose B&J as I’ve used them lots before and always delighted. A modern, wild flower kind of bouquet. Just perfect for my large window. Would highly recommend.

Over the last year, between lockdown and wanting to enjoy more local shops, I came across a family-run business called Barvas & James and decided to treat myself to some beautiful flowers while I worked away at home. Their bouquets lift my spirit every time I walk into the room. I soon found out that they do more than plants and flowers, their fruit and veg boxes have fresh, seasonal produce which is overflowing, and always happily devoured. This year's Christmas tree lasted 6 weeks and still looked and smelled as fresh as the first day.When I have a question or want to place an order, they are very communicative and helpful. And when I've been lucky enough to visit the shop, I always have the warmest greeting and manage to come away with extra goodies like candles, chocolates, pottery and jewelry.This is a shop that makes you feel like you're not in the middle of a large city, but will go above and beyond to help fill your home (or the lucky friends & family you might be sending them to) with the most beautiful flowers and plants, lushest fruit & veg boxes, and best extras to boost!

Shopped in the Glasgow southside store today. Was beautiful. Staff very pleasant. Had a great plant chat with the lady working there. The team also gave my small plant page a shout out on Instagram. Not to mention my variegated string of hearts I bought is beautiful and healthy.

Received a stunning hand tied bouquet from Barvas and James, would highly recommend for special occasion flowers. The west end shop is also great, with a brilliant range of plants and also pots. The staff here always go over and above with recommendations and advice.

We got to know John and the team from the Christmas trees. Their flowers are so beautiful that it was a no brainer to get them to do our wedding. The flowers were amazing and the service faultless.

I have previously shopped at Barvas and James for plants and they have a lovely range of plants and pots at fair prices. The assistant also gave me great advice on looking after my orchid which is still going strong! Today I supported them in their new venture in these difficult times delivering fruit and veg boxes. The box was filled with excellent quality goods with a good variety of fruit and veg too. Love the dirty carrots!
