Unite Students - Unite House
The interior is like any old Unite Students’ accommodation these days (it does not look anything like the photos attached on the website, much better even, since those are around seven years old and therefore severely outdated) — there is plenty of storage space to the point that your room will almost look bare, there is even some under bed storage. The interior furniture is neutral, white and grey, and well lit. The downsides of the ensuite bedrooms are that the bathrooms are hideous, outdated wet rooms which have some trouble drying quickly, and are just on the whole impractical, although the water pressure is satisfactory, so a decent shower is possible. The rooms themselves are absolutely boiling, the windows do little to block out the raging noise coming from the pubs, clubs and the 02 Academy which is situated just outside the accommodation. Residents are unruly and loud at times, giving little care for the supposed ‘noise curfew’ rules, even on Monday nights when you’ve got that dreaded 9AM lecture the next day (please invest in some heavy duty earplugs, you’ll thank me later). The kitchens are modern looking, however there is a severe lack of worktop space, making cooking meals cramped and impossible when all 7 residents are in there at one time. The main benefit of this accommodation is the location, you can basically walk everywhere you need to — to the university, to pubs, clubs, restaurants, Cabot Circus shopping quarters and Temple Meads station, as well as being able to get the bus right outside, and the interior lift making leaving for classes prompt. Staff are often slow to sort out problems as they have a backlog of leaky toilets and broken plugs to fix, so your problems probably won’t be addressed immediately. They gave us next to no information about how to revive our post, do our laundry or take out the bins (of which we only have a general waste bin and a minuscule food waste bin, making recycling almost impossible), moving in day was messy and unwelcoming, which all added to the trauma of moving away from home to a foreign city. All in all it simply comes down to who your flat mates are, make an effort to find them, whether this be on facebook, whatsapp or the ‘my flatmates’ page on the accommodation portal, because having supportive and kind flatmates will make or break your experience here — thankfully I have been blessed with (for the most part) quiet and clean flatmates, who are respectful of noise and personal space, however I cannot garuntee that this will be true for everyone, but do not tolerate living in a pig stye. Overall, you will be fine here, I have my complaints and suggestions for improvements, however this is certainly not the worst accommodation around.

I stayed there during the covid year. Worst experience of my life. Don't go here. Say you accidently tripped and were unconscious people would only notice when your flesh gives off a smell. The security shut down any form of social activity even when we were abiding by lockdown measures. I have never had a more isolating and lonely experience in my life.

Great student accommodation for Bristol University. Be warned though Bristol is a horrible place to drive a car. And they charge you £9 for the privilege!

Horrible quality of construction materials and furniture. Bathroom is extremely small with a ridiculous shower that is just on the floor with no separation of the rest of the bathroom.A door connects the kitchen with the outdoor but it cannot be opened, so no air comes in or leaves the kitchen.Really bad communication with staff and no respect for people's homes, privacy or timetables.Wildly expensive for what it is.

Terrible service. ANY Mulfunction NEVER GETS FIXED. no matter asking the repection or writing email. It is understandable that the heater and showing system have critical mulfunction since this is a old building. The real trouble is that the report of mulfunction would NEVER be addressed. When you report a mulfunction to the repection, they note it down with a smile face and NEVER address it. It took them one month to work up the courage to call a plumber, while there is only extremly hot water in my accommodation. Now the heater in my room have a burning smell that might be toxic, don't know if it will take another month to let them call the maintanance.

why the fire alarm going off 3 times a day including midnight? when an actual fire is happening i'm gonna sit there and do nothing because you've made the alarm seem pointless. think harder

Decent if you get above the 2nd floor. This way there's no rats or silverfish.Very ideal location.

Terrible customer service. You email them with a problem and they try their hardest to ignore you. Poor enforcement of noise rules, people shout and play music in the courtyard at 3am on weekdays. We were missing an ironing board - 3 months later we're still waiting. Update: a new employee managed to chase up my complaint and got a new one in 48h. If only they could replace all their staff!

No enforcement of kitchen cleaning, so other residents who have a short let don't clean after themselves or take the bins out so I'm left to do it myself everyday.
