A compact little gem, encapsulating elements of Dartmouth's rich maritime history with some cute examples of complex local people and their stories

It's a small but fascinating little museum, local history and a large model of the Mayflower, worth a visit if you are in the area.

It’s a tiny museum, but packed with fragments of important history such as Mayflower and the D-day in WW2.The film about getting ready for D-day shows some background scenes from that time. Two teenage sons seemed to find it interesting as they are learning about WW2 at school. The Mayflower replica ship is impressive and well made.We went during the Feb half term and it was raining and wet, so we decided to go in. It was worth visiting.

Totally amazing Museum. I've been to Dartmouth before but Dartmouth and its Museum should really be on every School visit list. First fleet of the Crusades? Check. Home of the Royal Navy from Edward III, check. Geoffrey Chaucer visit? Check. Spanish Armada attack fleet? Check. Sir Walter Raleigh visit? Check. Stop-off for the Mayflower? Check. English Civil War battle? Check. D-Day landings departure port? Check. I had no idea of all this. The David Hulse steam engine model collection was brilliant as well. The chap I spoke to sorting the displays used to work in the coal mines and is constantly astounded that he is now in charge of these beautiful models from where he began in life. I love to meet a person living their dream. As the saying goes, 'If you love your job you'll never do a days work'. Would 100% recommend a visit.
