We made an unplanned visit to the Canny Man, We were greeted warmly and taken to our table, we both opted for Sunday roast with all the trimmings, the food was divine, the beef perfectly cooked as were the accompanying veg and Yorkshire pudding, all very well presented. I am such a fussy eater and usually have some sort of comment to make, the meal and service was flawless, we will definitely be returning.

Was a nice meal, steak was tasty with tonnes of sauce, haggis and black pudding fritters were tasty too. Pudding was amazing. Was disappointed to see the online menu was not the same as the one when we got there and the stock photos on the website had nothing to do with the pub itself. Also the pub name is confusing as it's not the same as when you get here.

Was cold we kept jackets on. Great attention to detail of gf from waitress. Kids pasta sauce was so sweet like tomato sauce was poured through it...did advise waitress for chef. Burgers and Steak pie was great so a mixed visit as service was also great.

Absolutely gutted to be writing this review as had really high hopes for here but unfortunately we were very disappointed. We arrived about 4:15pm on Tuesday, and were the only table to begin with. Starters did take a while. The prawn cocktail starter was enjoyed and good portion size and the haggis Bon bons were enjoyed too. The lentil soup unfortunately was tasteless, not sure how you can go wrong with lentil soup but I never add salt to food but it was definitely necessary to make it edible. After starters we then waited a got to be easily an hour for the mains. The waitress did apologise after she seen us looking when they delivered food to a table that came in ages after us, she said that the Chateaubriand was taking a bit longer and chef wouldn’t put out until it was perfect. When they finally arrived the fish & chips were enjoyed, the burger was ok. The Chateaubriand came as a full slab of meat, and unfortunately not the medium we had ordered. I would say rare inside and well done on outside. It was also stone cold and tomatoes were missing, (not normally a big deal but it was £59.95 for the meat, chips & tomatoes) they were also out of a lot of steak sauces. After being in there nearly 2 hours at this point we just didn’t have time or energy to send it back and having not eaten all day we were starving. The Mac and cheese side looked good but was completely tasteless. Overall considering how quiet it was there’s not really an excuse for food this bad, especially with the price of the steak too, if your going to sell such a high price point item you really need to be spot on with the cooking. The restaurant is nicely decorated and the waitress very nice and has a lot of potential but the food needs a huge amount of work. Wasn’t cheap for what we received either.

This was a lovely little find on a miserable Tuesday afternoon. The restaurant is lovely and has lots of tables and parking (although the car park needs some attention!)The food was fresh, piping hot, and tasted delicious. There was a lunch time menu on which is great value for 2-3 courses. Lots to choose from too.The young lady who served us was fantastic. She was friendly and chatty and couldn’t have done more for us.She told us about the ceilidh band and the Sunday roast selection, so we are looking forward to returning for that. The cherry on the cake is that we can bring our dog too! Editing to note that the lovely server we had before, and again this week, was Louise. She is full of smiles and honestly couldn’t do enough for us. She talked us through the new festive menu and what adaptions could be made for out coeliac granddaughter. Fabulous service and lovely food.

I do hate leaving bad reviews but unfortunately it may benefit the management in accepting some constructive criticism. The staff and their service was great but the food was very poor. I ordered the fillet steak and my Mrs the cajun chicken. Both were very poor. The steak for 32 quid was like a stewing steak and didn't taste good. The pasta was bland and milky with no spice to it. Staff were great but the food needs attention.

Went during the day not too busy but as we had booked all was good from arrival to departure.Perhaps this anomaly was due to many social issues. Will visit again.

Very welcoming. Nicely modernised. Service great. Food ok but menu needs expanded for vegetarians. Love Mac 'n cheese but it is easy to offer more - even veg tempura in addition to the meat versions? Thanks. We'll try again though.

We stumbled upon this place on the way to Mclarens nurseries and definitely won’t be back. I don’t understand how this place is open, it’s huge building, only had two tables - that doesn’t look great for Sunday lunch. We had the salt & chilli burger and Mac and cheese. Both were disappointing far below the standard. The burger was meant to be buttermilk fried, the staff advised it grilled and then fried - That sounds very strange, why would you grill then fry? What’s leftover is a soggy mess (I have feeling it was microwaved). It was also meant to be served with a curry sauce, which we didn’t get, I was advised this is served on the side, why not have confidence in your food and serve it how it’s meant to be served, are customers expected to dip the burger in small pot of sauce? If someone doesn’t like they could ask for it to be removed.I think the location has potential but needs an overhaul of menus and staff. I think management need to visit restaurants around Glasgow to see the offerings (bucks bar for the burger as a starter). I understand with inflation things are margins are tight but customers won’t mind paying a couple of extra ££ for a better product.
