Dorset Local Wine School

I’ve been to three of Maria’s events now, and they’ve all been fantastic! Just the right amount of education, with a great selection of easily accessible, great value, wines. I’m already looking at what tasting I can do next!

Such a great night, we’ve been back several times since! Maria really knows her wines and it gave me a whole new level of appreciation for what I was drinking and what to pair it with. Strongly recommend!

Like many people, I knew the wines I liked but not necessarily _why_ I liked them. Dorset Local Wine School events have helped me understand the tastes and flavours of the wine I drink and have introduced me to a wider variety of wines, and all in a fun and friendly atmosphere. Highly recommended!

I booked Maria for a private wine tasting evening for a group of 8 adults in a holiday house in Dorset as part of a family celebration. It was a fabulous way for us to have a grown up evening in gorgeous surroundings, whilst the children played. Maria was lovely - she was so accommodating and very knowledgeable. She went the extra mile to tell us about all the local vineyards (who knew so much wine was made in Dorset?) and to showcase some local cheeses. We were able to ask lots of questions, taste some delicious wine (and cheese!) and have lots of fun. Highly recommend!

A small group of us attended the Australian and New Zealand wine tasting last night. We are big fans of the Malborough Sauvignon but we wanted to explore some more wines from that part of the world.The venue is lovely and quant, nestled at the top of The Library/Larderhouse. Our wonderful host, Maria, welcomed everyone and we got to introduce ourselves individually which was a nice icebreaker. All the wines picked by Maria were absolutely incredible and I finally found a Pinot Noir that I actually liked! Some of the wines were paired with local cheeses too.It was interesting listening to our interpretations and learning how to unpick a wines tasting notes. We also enjoyed learning the unique features of the grapes environment that help build its flavours.We would highly recommend these tasting events to the professional or the more novice wine drinker. It was a fun night!!! We are already looking to book in our next one.

I have been to lots of Maria's wine tastings in Southbourne and have loved the experience. Maria is knowledgable and has a relaxed style of presentation which makes it fun and easy to learn. I don't think I've had a bad wine either.

Hello. Recently, my Wife and I went to an impromptu wine evening with 2 food courses to match at The Captain's Club in Dorset. Such a good evening it was! We also met another Wine enthusiast there. Maria Day runs Dorset Local Wine School. After going home that night, I went online to check that out. Seeing all the upcoming Wine Tasting events Maria is hosting I went straight in and booked a few. Last week My Wife and I attended Maria's Champagne and Sparkling Wine with Fish and Chips Evening.The evening at The Captain's Club was just brilliant. Maria's presentation and Wine knowledge was excellent! The food was also fantastic. I am pleased to say that my Wife and I are pleased to have booked more dates and we are so looking forward to them. We have met a lot of great People as well. Well done Maria Day. The Wines on offer were well enjoyed and they flowed freely!! Yum yum hey ho!

Maria is very knowledgeable about wine, and we had a fantastic evening rosé tasting. I also completed the WSET level 2 course through Dorset Wine School, and Maria was a brilliant facilitator. Can't recommend enough and we will be joining future events. Thank you Maria!

Where not only did I learn a lot more about the wines, region and style, but also enjoyed really good wine and cheese with nice people - lots of fun and perfectly hosted by Maria who creates a friendly and welcoming environment.
