Serenity Jiu Jitsu

The sales techniques used are like something from the 80's - very high pressure, intimidating and focused on getting you to commit on the spot. I didn't think people operated like this any more. You can see the attitude from this place in the replies they make to negative reviews.If you go there I recommend taking a friend with you and remember it is okay to say no and not sign up if you do not feel comfortable with signing up there and then. During the process I was put into a small room with a big, intimidating guy who was doing the hard sell and he made it very difficult to leave. Being a fairly big guy myself I even felt quite vulnerable at the time so would dread to think how some people would feel in this situation.Edit: can see from their response that they have confused me with someone else, who clearly also had a negative experience at Serenity. Goes to show how many people must get this treatment from them. Especially when looking how they reply to other negative reviews. Avoid at all costs.

Great Gym! Joined just before Christmas and it has been a great experience. There's no egos within this club and all coaches and members are very welcoming! High level of respect kept between everybody at all times. Serenity offer a a good variation of Class times which is great for me recently becoming a parent and working 2 jobs. Would highly recommend training at Serenity if you're think about taking up Jiu Jitsu!Nathan Adams

I have been training with Serenity Jiu Jitsu for about 10 months and have absolutely fell in love with the sport and a lot of it is down to training at Serenity. I started by going to the women’s only class which helped me to build confidence in joining in on the regular fundamentals classes. If anyone is considering starting jiu jitsu I couldn’t recommend this place enough. Staff are so helpful and patient and everyone around is so friendly.

I’ve been training at Serenity for over a year and I can’t recommend the gym enough. All the coaches are brilliant - they’re so supportive and encouraging and the standard of instruction is second to none. The other students at the club have always been so welcoming and patient, the gym fosters an environment where you feel comfortable and can grow and learn - not just with your jiu jitsu but in yourself as well.

I have been training at this gym for six months and I love it! The instructors are very knowledgeable and friendly, and they create a welcoming and supportive environment for everyone. They also have a lovely group of female students. They offer women-only classes and open mats, as well as mixed-gender sessions. I feel safe, respected, and empowered at this gym, and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn jiu jitsu, especially women.

I am the parent of a 14year old female, like myself my daughter has never done any form of martial art's or been in a gym. This was all down to her she did the research and we turned up, on a Monday evening, we were introduced to a member of staff called Joe, who was excellent, no hard sell he told us what it is, and he spoke to my daughter in a highly professional manner, we were then introduced to other trainers Ricky (who is great with the kids and also takes the kid parent lessons, and makes them fun) the kids love it. Then there is Ricky’s apprentice, Jonny who takes the kids and adults classes in a calm professional manner. This has brought my daughter’s confidence fitness out loads she loves it. Thank you all at serenity Jiu jitsu, I can’t recommend this place enough and I have met some lovely amazing people.

Started my BJJ journey whilst working away in Newcastle with these guys. Received a warm welcome when doing so, plenty of classes throughout the week and I found the teaching pace & methods suited my way of learning. Clear & concise instruction with plenty of time to drill. I still work away now & again (as well as training at home) & serenity will always stick with me as my starting place.I would advise anyone thinking of starting to just make contact with the gents and go from there.

Serenity is all the definitions of the word and each visit highlights those definitions even more so. I signed up for the women's self-defense classes and I've never looked back. At the start I was so very nervous majorly stepping out my comfort zone but I'm so glad I've persevered. They understand your anxieties in learning something new but their teaching is absolutely excellent with exceptional knowledge and from a physical and mental perspective too. Everyone is so welcoming and friendly, its a lovely environment. I would highly recommend this place for whatever your reason is for wanting to learn jui jitsu, it has and is helping me in all areas of 'life' and that is priceless.

I started the women’s class roughly 2 months ago and had no prior experience. The team are very welcoming and friendly, the women I train with are all so lovely and I couldn’t have asked for a more welcoming environment. I am keen to join the fundamentals class when I have a little more confidence but all the staff are very encouraging! Would highly recommend for all ages as I’m a uni student and it’s an easy metro trip!
