Magnificent food at this restaurant. If you want to eat in, book well in advance as very limited on seating space. If you do get a table, take your own drink. The amount of takeaway orders that go out while you eat is a good indication of how good this restaurant is. We have returned to this place because it’s so good. Check it out!

Great takeaway. We had the taster menus both were delicious. Only point is something leaked in the bag and it went everywhere. My jeans are stained with saffron as had the takeaway on my knee in the car on the way back as are the table mats that the pots went on.

Fantastic food, super friendly staff and great prices. Only lost one star on atmosphere as it is really a takeaway but you can eat in and byo booze, we actually liked the buzz of watching and hearing the guys cooking though! Can't recommend enough.

Onion bhagis were soft and small 2 per ordered portion, had more and better elsewhere, plus only 2 complementary poppadoms for a £60+ order including 4 mains an 4 sides, makes no sense. We've even been overcharged, £76.80 rather than the £66~ calculated using their printed menu and their up to date" menu on their site. Won't bother with here again."

Popped in, ordered and picked up 20 minutes later (quick drink in the Anchor). Friendly, efficient service. Tasty fresh tasting curries. Would definitely recommend.

Decided to edit this review after being in Swanage for a little over 2yrs now. This is still 5 stars and one of my personal favourites. It’s a small restaurant with limited seating and is mainly a takeout. There are three Indian restaurants in Swanage of which Nihal does the best curry, but all three are decent and have their own strengths and weaknesses. Masala tends to do smaller portions, but is very central to the beach. Golden Bengal is generally just nice and is easier for people staying at the back of town.Nihal is superior to the other two in flavour, you get a good selection on there menu. I personally love the chef specials, really tasty dishes and if you like it hotter, just ask and they are accommodating. The one thing people need to be aware of is they prefer payment in cash, they have started taking cards though if you want a discount take cash in with you. This is my personal go to take out when in Swanage, over all other cuisines on offer. Yes there are better curry houses out there, but not in Swanage.Photos are of the 2022 Menu

When trying a new Indian restaurant/ takeaway I always order my favourite dish which is a chicken dhansak and I’m glad to say this was one of the best ones I’ve ever had! It was so flavourful with a thick sauce, full of lentils and not a slice of pineapple in sight ( I don’t mind pineapple in a dish but I don’t think it’s necessary in a dhansak, personal preference of course). I ordered the chicken tikka version and it was full of chicken, really generous amount. The pilau rice was great and the garlic Nan was lovely. Overall I was very impressed with the food from Nihal Spice and will definitely order from them again.
