I dont know how often they change chefs but the food is sometimes great and sometimes not. As a vegetarian i don't like the fact they wont substitute paneer or veg for the meat curries. there are better Asian restaurants in Lincoln (the Modern for one).

Food was nice enough eventually, although some of it wasn't hot. Service was terrible apart from a young foreign land on his first night, he tried his best to look after us. Everything took a long time to arrive from drinks to poppadoms to starters & meals. When the starters arrived they were just plonked in the middle of the table, waiter never said a word (didn't say what they were or ask who was having what). A few of our fellow diners walked out as they'd been sat down over 20 minutes & still had no drinks. Manager wasn't apologetic at all, just said they were busy. Giving it 2 stars as food was quite tasty.

Visited this place on 20th April 2019..The Bombay was established in 1935 and was one of the very first Indian restaurants to open in the UK and used to be outstanding as I visited a few years ago. I also don't believe those glowing reviews here saying the food and service was good, oh no it was not, it was crap!!...Clearly there has been a change of management..Scruffy waiters serving mediocre and very dull food in cheap ceramic dishes that don't even match. The interior is dull, dingy and out dated and bizarrely theres no music either. You know that the food is going to be crap when your wife is served a flat soft drink that has maybe two bubbles with no lemon slice and just one small ice cube. Very slow service, waited 40 mins for mains and the chicken and beef were both dry like yesterdays food reheated. The bill had errors being charged double on the drinks bill and the staff seem so keen to get the bill paid and us out of the doors even though we said and did nothing negative with no complaints and the place on an Easter Saturday was half empty with few locals eating there, wonder why?..In short my birthday meal was ruined by poor quality dull and boring tasting mediocre food served by scruffy waiters. This place needs to close for good it's just rubbish 1/10 and I'm being generous with that 1 as well!!!..This place is blacklisted and I will never visit again period!!

Served by a guy working on his own that spoke very little English. Messed our drinks order up 3 times. There were a few complaints the night we were there. Food when it finally arrived was quite tasty.

No complaints. The food was good and service good. Thier was 12 of us in our party. We all had a couple of drinks a starter main meal and breads or rice. The bill was £24 each.

Do not go here. took them long enough to take our order let alone serve our food. Took well over an hour for our food to arrive with no warning or apology. One of our party left because it was taking that long and they refused to let me leave until i paid for his food, blocking me from leaving the restaurant for ten minutes whilst they ignored the rest of their grumpy customers. When the food arrived it was poor quality, incredibly mild (despite asking for medium/hot) and lacking any real flavour. I love Indian food and living in London often go to tooting which is the hidden home of curry. I can only recommend that you try everywhere to get a table before heading here.

I visited on a Friday evening with a group of 12. The staff were really friendly, helpful and polite. Service was reasonable and absolutely no complaints from any of us. All 12 mains were served together and everyone commented on how good the food was. The best chicken jalfrezi I've had for a long time!

Food is great, service is a massive let-down. The curry here is very good, great flavour and texture along with being thoroughly cooked through meat. Only downside to the food was a few cardamon pods found in mine. Service however is severely lacking, no urgency to help us or make our evening more than satisfactory. Out of three beers that we asked for, only one was in stock, there only being 7 on the menu made that a little confusing. Will definitely be choosing somewhere else in the future.

If you like Fawlty towers style service this is the place to go. Rudest waiters I've ever met. I got the impression that we were massively inconveniencing them by trying to eat there. The food was ok but nothing special. There are much better Indian restaurants in Lincoln I won't be troubling them again

An excellent selection of curries! Clean. Reasonable prices. Kind staff. Prompt service.
