The Gun at Ridsdale

We've been here a couple of times and absolutely love it!This pub has a great atmosphere and the views are stunning. We've eaten here, also, and the food is lovely-definitely recommend!

A lovely little community-owned pub with some spectacular views. We stopped for lunch and really enjoyed the opportunity to break up our journey from Edinburgh (about 2hrs away). We arrived just as they were opening so we were the only customers - very friendly, welcoming staff.

Stopped off on the way to the North East for a holiday with the family. They were very accommodating and very nice to my kids. The food was amazing! Would definitely recommend.

Really worth the excursion to come here. The location is spectacular - enjoy the picture window in the dining room or the view from the garden. And the food matches the view. Very friendly staff and locals (aim for Happy Hour on Friday to meet a good selection). The rooms offer everything that is needed - comfortable beds, superbly quiet and in the midst of the darkest skies in the country. Well done on a very sensitive renovation of a community pub. You have done a grand job.

Haven't stayed here but have had lunch here several times.Today my friend had tomato soup with toasted sour dough bread which she said was delicious. I had the roast beef and horseradish sandwich with vegetable crisps, a different from usual homemade fruity coleslaw and a chopped salad. All delicious and moreish! The food is quality, local produce and all the meals are very reasonably priced. The community run pub is very welcoming and the staff very friendly and, if they have time, are happy to chat with you.In an old stone building with fantastic scenic views, The Gun is spotlessly clean and and well kept. There is a lovely beer garden to the rear with wonderful views over towards Otterburn and beyond. Plenty of parking to the front and rear of the building and exceptionally clean toilets inside.Well worth a visit and only about an hour from Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

Fantastic place to stay and dine. Friendly staff. Room was immaculate and very quiet. Food was very good, cooked perfectly. Location great for Hadrian's Wall, Roman forts etc.

Absolutely lovely spot! Rooms are very nice & the bathrooms was massive too. Very well looked after and good atmosphere in the bar.Food was lovely and so where the staff.View from the dining room is breathtaking! 5/5 couldn't be happier with my stay!

We were staying locally and the owners recommended here, and we were not disappointed. On a busy Thursday evening, we were welcomed with open arms, and shown our table. We had starters and mains. Halloumi fries, for one, and fishcake for the other. We both had steak for our main course. Cooked to perfection, it was amazing. The ladies behind the bar were so attentive with their service, and had we known before we got to Bellingham that they did rooms as well, we would have stayed. We know for next time, and it serves me right for not doing enough research. So, if you are in the area, make sure you dine here.

Thankfully the community all pitched in to save this pub and hotel because it was fantastic! Newly renovated rooms great food and tons of local character. The views are also astounding.
