I studied Computer Science and Mathematics as an Access course from 2022 to 2023 and I am truly fortunate to have been a student of Mauricio, who is an exceptional lecturer. Not only is he remarkably knowledgeable and respectful towards his students, but his invaluable guidance on life adds an extraordinary dimension to his teaching. His insights extend beyond academics, offering us priceless lessons that will undoubtedly shape our paths long after graduation. Thanks to his help, I am now on my way to my first choice university, King's College London to study Computer Science.

I have done Access course in psychology from newham college after a 10 year gap and Got into UCL(one of the best university for psychology) all beacuse of my teacher Lorna Spence. Her manner of teaching is so wonderful and refreshing!! She’s so patient and supportive, and really knows how to motivate her students. She’s great at building confidence and keeping lessons fun and engaging through a variety of activities and healthy discussions that improved our conversation, writing, and reading skills too. I am feeling blessed to have her as my teacher. Along with Lorna I am also thankful to my GCSC teacher Chennel, who helped me complete my GCSCs in a very short period of time. She too was so supportive and helpful through out my journey.I am so proud to have these two as my teachers and will always be thankfull to them.

Lorna has been an exceptional psychology teacher that has an immense amount of knowledge about the human mind, and she has been exceptionally kind to all of us. She is just the kind of teacher that will make you realize that your weaknesses will become your strengths. I have felt immensely cared for and supported during my year of being her student so far. She is also the kind of teacher that encourages you to be the best version of yourself, and achieve more in life. Lorna is just one of those teachers that you really want to have as an role model. Future students will be incredibly lucky to have her, as she is the teacher that only strives for the best in her students and helps them in anyway possible.

I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have been taught by Mauricio in my computer science and maths course.Despite being a walking encyclopedia and a guru in various subjects,he remains modest and unassuming.His expertise in mathematical and computing analysis is unparalleled, but what truly sets him apart is his conviction and intuitive nature.Mauricio's guidance has helped me find direction in my personal and professional development journey,and I feel lucky to have had him as a lecturer.Thank you, Mauricio,for your dedication to education and for all that you have done for me!Luka Kamidzorac

It was great that the college has many options in terms of courses for my son to study, however the enrolment process was a chaos. We had to spend whole day waiting to get enrolled. So disappointed. I hope the management will keenly looked into it and resolve in future.

I just finished my Access course with Mauricio in the Business Information System. Just want to say it is a very great course and this is an excellent learning experience for me.This course's subject is quite rich, I have learned mathematics, business, accounting, finance, and information systems here. Mauricio has much teaching expertise, and his lesson is engaging. In the course, I not only study but also find more interest.I'd want to express my heartfelt gratitude to my wonderful teacher Mauricio. He was huge assistance, encouragement, and supporter of my previous studies. He is a highly personable teacher who passionately assists each student. He is really patient in assisting us with our academic issues. Not only that but he also advises us when we are confused.He is the best teacher I've ever had.

I did the psychology level 3 access course at newham college startford campus with Lorna Spence.She was supportive,she listened,she prepared me mentally ,academically .I always i will remember for the whole life as my lovely and helpful teacher ,i am so glad i had a teacher like her.

This review will be long. But if you consider an Access course I invite you to read alumni’s opinions. I wish I could have done it before the course.Let’s start with the highlight of the year, one of the two maths teachers : Mauricio. He is an epitome of professionalism, he is always well-prepared and his lessons are consistently clear, focused, and engaging. He understands that Mathematics can be a challenging subject for many and so he has a talent for simplifying complex concepts that are easily digestible. What sets Mauricio apart is not just his expertise or his teaching style, but his personal approach. He doesn't just see me as another student, but as an individual with unique learning abilities and challenges. He identified my weak areas early on and tailored his teaching methods to help me improve and grow confidently. Under Mauricio's guidance, I have not only seen my maths scores significantly improve, but my overall approach to problem-solving has also evolved.He’s the reason why I decided to give 5 stars. However the course was far from perfect.If you come with at least a basic knowledge of economics and finance, do not expect to learn anything in that course. It is extreme how much I learned from my maths teachers and how little I discovered in econ class. The program needs to be changed, the teacher needs to be changed, the way it’s scheduled (4hours in a row) needs to be changed.The facilities are ok. Toilets are clean, the cafeteria is nice, the restaurant too. The kitchen staff is particularly lovely ; they are my favourite. The security and overall the whole college staff is working hard to make you feel safe, welcome and help you towards your goals.Bonus point for the free porridge in the morning (for every student).Eventually I did get two offers from universities but not my number one choice. The course is quite new and the college is still working towards proving top universities that access course students deserve their spots with them. So even if the uni website says so, I wouldn’t expect to get in Cambridge with an access course. Even if you get all credits at distinction.Looks like I had a lot to say ! I’ll stop there. If you read the whole thing you must be really interested in getting to Uni and so I wish you good luck ! You can do it !

Hello,I attended a psychology course at newham college, for accessing University. The teacher, Lorna, is absolutely amazing. Her methods are only hers, different from everyone I met before. I thought of giving up quite a few times, and she always caught me back by the sleeve. But the most important lesson I got from her is not about resilience, is about love. A psychology, a bit like a dentist, sometimes has not other choice than extract the broken thoughts that are far beyond repair. Sometimes we must feel free to lose, to feel free to love.

I just completed my first year as a social work student at LSBU with firsts. I would not have done it if it was not for Lorna Spence who teaches Psychology at this college. She is an exceptional teacher who pushes her students to do well. Her lessons were engaging, useful and always encouraging her students to try. I am so grateful and thankful to her. I will always remember Lorna Spence at Newham college.
