Mr & Mrs Sweep

Our old sweep unfortunately retired, and someone passed on details for Mr and Mrs Sweep.We really weren’t impressed with the service or professionalism shown. Our sweep didn’t sheet up at all, just opened the stove door and began to push a spooled rod up the flue. No sealing/sheeting of the stove door to prevent mess like with our previous sweep. Cleaned flue whilst simultaneously telling me how carcinogenic the soot is, with falling soot dust clearly visible in the air all around the stove door. I was cleaning soot off of furniture and surfaces for days afterwards. After leaving, we realised that we’d not seen him empty the outside sump on our twin wall. I proceeded to check and found it full to the brim with soot debris. It hadn’t been cleaned out at all. From start to finish, the job took less than 20 minutes. I had high hopes but will unfortunately be looking for a new sweep for next year I’m afraid.
