Floor Sanding & Finishing London - Robin Wood Floor

Superb work from the team - really easy and friendly contact with the manager and flexible on timings to accommodate our work commitments. The floors of the kitchen, hallway and living room had been badly painted and varnished by previous owners and the team restored those to their original state and applied a lovely varnish in just over a day. They carried out nice replacements on a couple of floorboards that were badly damaged and took care to pick wood that would match the original Victorian flooring. They also did a good job of filling grooves and holes in a way that blends in. Good finish level throughout, really quickly execution, little damage to skirting boards and a lot less dust than what might have been expected. Overall we’re very pleased and would recommend

I invited Robert and his team to sand a room in my house. They turned up and Robert was great to communicate with, friendly, buoyant, energetic and very enthusiastic. He instantly filled me with confidence. He then worked with his team and stayed completely focused on the job, working extremely hard with a great positivity. They all continued without breaks until the job was finished. The floor looks amazing and the finish is first class. All done so quickly and efficiently. Excellent experience, would definitely recommend. They gave excellent advice from the outset, we had the original flooring of our Victorian house sanded and repaired, as well as having the old fireplaces replaced with new floorboards. At every stage the service was excellent, they worked hard and fast and clean, and kept us updated at every stage. They went above and beyond, even coming back to help us move a piano the day after the job was complete! Price was excellent too. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend. Helen

I can recommend Robert and his team. I found Robert to have a nice manner, he was friendly and helpful, both on the phone and in person. He gave me a reasonable price to sand and varnish the living room floor in my mothers house. They arrived on time, worked quickly and efficiently, and cleaned up after themselves. I will recommend to friends, and plan to use their services again for other rooms in the house.

Our neighbour in stoke newington recommended a builder to us who in turn recommended Robert to sand a beech veneer floor. I called and he got back to me straight away and was very responsive and helpful throughout the job. The floor was extremely warn and scratched but Robert managed to turn it into something very smart and pretty immaculate. I never thought that would be possible on an old veneer floor in that condition. Also the machines he used were virtually dust free. He also gave great advice to the decorator Re the best wood protector / varnish to use and would have done it himself if we had asked him. All round a great job and a very reasonable price.

DO NOT USE THEM!I saw Robert and his dad's van parked outside a house in our local area. I asked them to come over to provide a quote which they happily did promptly. Robert then bombarded me on a weekly basis with several texts and was forceful in wanting the work asking about when it would be progressed. This should have been my first clue. The work we required was the removal of a hearth (from an old fireplace), replacement with old comparable boards, sanding of the whole floor and sealing.Robert and his dad turned up on the first day, helped us move a wardrobe and then left after three hours - there had been no communication previously that the job was going to take two days. The floor was only partially sanded but they had removed the hearth and replaced the boards. When I asked why they were still dark - he explained that they had not sanded them yet but that the boards would look the same.The next day they arrived and finished the job and I paid them.I was unable to inspect the room properly as the floor was wet and was told we couldn't go in for 24 hours. Since then I have discovered(1) They had marked the newly painted skirting boards and touched the boards up badly despite me asking them to leave this.(2) The new room was a different colour but the join between the two spaces was poorly finished - Robert's suggestion was a wooden threshold which I was not keen on(3) There are spillages left on our tiled Victorian floor which are not coming off easily(4) Finally the boards that the hearth had been replaced with are a different colour to the original and stand out like a sore thumb.I have sent several texts and called Robert without a response.I would NOT use them. Instead please search for Voca Construction - who were slightly more expensive but worth the price due to the post sales service!

I asked Robin Wood flooring to sand 16m2 of Victorian pine floorboards, remove and re-stitch an old fireplace hearth and finish the floor with a matt lacquer.The communication from Robert was good, he answered all the questions I had about the work and confirmed by text the night before the job would start. Robert and the team turned up on time and got to work straight away. The job was finished quickly, started at 8am and Robert and his team were gone by 11:30amAfter Robert and his team finished, from afar the floor looked good. The hearth re-stitch was excellent, good reclaimed floorboard match with original boards. After the lacquer dried I was able to inspect the floor more closely and found that the finish was disappointing. There are lots of rough spots and visible sanding marks all over the floor. I've had other parts of the house sanded by different companies so have a reference for what a good finish looks like and this one is poor.I raised this issue with Robert, who offered to come over and put another coat of lacquer on the floor. As this wouldn't improved the rough spots in the floor I refused this offer and asked for it to be refinished. I emailed some images of the floor to Robert, after this I didn't receive any further correspondence from him.I wouldn't recommend Robin Wood Flooring. They will be able to sand your floors, do it quickly and at a competitive price. But if you value the final finish and don't want your floors to look like they've been butchered by an industrial sander than I'd suggest looking elsewhere. I've attached some pictures of my Robin Wood sanded floor.
