Fantastic customer service traditional real ale local pub (not many left).....and they put on some great music acts...not eaten there yet though

A brilliant pub with great beer. This pub has a real community spirit. Enjoyed the quiz with free sausage rolls on a Thursday. Great choice of ales too.

Wonderful Sunday lunch here, the menu had a great offering. Generous portions and beautifully cooked. The two ladies serving us could not have been more helpful. However this is a football pub and was quite rowdy while the match was on. I've dropped it a star because the table next to us were told to leave because their dog was barking, it was not handled in the beat of manners. Again great food and service menu attached

A good selection of beers, live sports shown, and an outdoor seating area. The bar staff are also very friendly, 10/10 would recommend.

Had a wonderful Sunday roast dinner here this weekend, had a pre lunch drink sat outside in the sunshine.Prawn cocktail to start.Roast dinners of pork with crispy crackling, roast chicken and a roast sirloin of beef. Heaps of gorgeously tasty roast potatoes, Yorkshire pud, stuffing, roast parsnips, carrots, brocoli and gravy. Selection of desserts but we were all so stuffed. But they had a choice of three.... cheesecake, sticky toffee pudding and a chocolate offering.Would recommend and will be going back.Thank you

Very fond memories of The Nightingale as was. Used to frequent most Friday nights and the atmosphere was electric and you would struggle to find a place to stand let alone sit. On a recent visit (after 7 or more years away) I was surprised to see only a handful of people in there at 8 pm on a Friday night. The back of the bar was in darkness as I assume there was no need for it in the empty pub. On entering, straight to an empty bar, wait to be served and then I assume , the landlady appeared. No smile, no conversation, barely even a grunt. She was too busy desperately trying to be involved in a conversation at the end of the bar. Once the drinks were poured, a contactless machine was thrust forward, still no words not even how much the transaction was for. We walked away with our drinks, said thank you. No reply! Good pint of Guinness tho! So I went back for another only to receive the same welcome. On approaching the bar, she walked away! Came back and poured the pint with not another word, the contactless machine was presented again without a word whilst craning her neck to be involved in a conversation that as happy to continue without her! Such a shame this lovely lively pub with great bar staff in the past is now offering this experience. Unfortunately will never return.

Friendly local pub with a village feel and lots of history. Great selection of drinks. Very good, helpful bar staff.
