Nice quiet place for a short walk with pretty streams but difficult terrain for people with accessibility needs.

On arriving from outside Brighton by using the A23, also known as a London road, at one point it will become Preston Road, and shortly afterwards, on your left, you will see Preston Manor, and immediately after it, you will come across Preston Park.About 100 meters after you come across Preston Park, opposite is the Rockery Garden. The Preston Park rockery garden(also known as The Rockery), was landscaped by Captain B Maclaren in 1935.Around the area there is parking available but it is limited. It may be that you may wish to make a day of it by visiting Preston Park with the family. You can enjoy the various focal points that Preston Park offers, and at some point go to the rockery garden and admire this amazing place with its wonderful plants, bushes, shrubs, and trees that have grown there over the years.Today, it is the largest municipal rock garden in the UK. It is also the most bio-diverse garden in the city.It is not just the visitors who admire it, but the residents also take great pride in having it.The Preston Park rockery garden is certainly an eye catcher. The height of it alone makes you stop and look at how beautifully it has been designed. The Rockery, including the pond, was restored with an enormous joint effort by the council and the friends of Preston Park.So huge was the job that they had relied on additional help from volunteers from the probation Service Community Payback Scheme. If you were to visit it, you would immediately notice the wonderful twisting walkways, some with lovely large stones. You will also see the pond and the waterfall from a distance. There are some significant size stones placed in various parts of the garden, and these stones certainly add to the beauty of the rockery garden. The waterfall starts almost right at the top, and it flows through the middle part and ends up forming a pond at the bottom. The pond has large leaves and plants growing inside it.There is a man-made bridge, and it is ideal for people wanting to take pictures or just looking down below and seeing how wonderful it looks from a great height. In various places across the water, large stones have been placed in such a way that people can easily step on them and go from part A to part B.If you enjoy gardens and parks, then you will love the Rockery.

Across the road from Preston Park. Nice garden, quite steep with steps up to walk through woods and across bridge. Stepping stones across the pond. Fish and a couple of terrapins in the pond. Waterfall, Roses and Gunnera.

When, at times, I am lost in the abyss of my tormented soul, I come to the Rock Gardens to speak to the ancient one. He always answers.

Beautiful place to visit and enjoy. The prolonged dry summer of 2022 had a devestating effect on the green outlook but still a beautiful place worth a visit in any time of year.
