Little Aidan's

I reserved a table for two, arriving 30 minutes early. Due to the limited capacity of the small restaurant, we waited outside in the cold until a table became available. Unfortunately, we were seated right by the door, subjecting us to freezing temperatures each time someone entered or left. Despite requesting to move to an available table for two, the owner initially denied, claiming it was booked. Later, a group of three was seated there. Only after another nearby table opened up did the owner reconsider, seemingly more for their convenience than ours. While the food was good, the overall experience was disappointing, and I doubt I'll return.

We loved our visit to little Aidans. The food was delicious and made with high quality ingredients. We also found the decor very calming along with the friendly service. Would highly recommend.

What a lovely place for brunch. The trouble is deciding what to pick off the menu.The food is always gorgeous! We have never been disappointed, the cakes are packed full of flavour and not dry at all ! The staff are so friendly , the atmosphere is calm and relaxed. Can not recommend this place enough. We always book as we know how popular Aidans is. Best place in Newcastle.

Went for brunch here during the week. Service was excellent, staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. Food was excellent, well worth the price. All ingredients were fresh. Great range of options, including for vegans. Coffee was lovely. Cake selection was great. No issues finding parking, and metro station is nearby. Highly recommended.

We (two friends) decided to try out this new addition to the Jesmond Coffee scene. Aidan's Kitchen in Sandyford has been up and running for a while and has a good reputation so that seemed to bode well. Unfortunately, a couple of things weren't right and that did spoil the overall experience. We hadn't pre-booked which is an apparent pre-requisite. Feels a bit over the top for a café and having to wait outside until a table became free and staff were persuaded to let us have it, was a bit of a bore. The counter cakes looked appetising and we decided on the carrot cake with frosted icing. We ordered a decaf americano and a cappuccino. Service was fairly prompt and staff were friendly. There's a trend for no saucers at the moment and personally I think that's a mistake - nowhere to put your teaspoon and just feels like it's done to save on the washing up. There's a lot of clatter going on and several loud crashes from the kitchen area didn't help. Just a bit more calm would be good. The cake was OK but a bit dry. The americano was very bitter - a shame given they use a very decent bean I believe. The cappuccino was fine. Prices are a bit steep to begin with and with the add on of a surprise service charge, it made for a pricey coffee and piece of cake. Nice to have another local offering but probably not worth a repeat visit if you can't do it impromptu.

Popped in for lunch to find delicious food served by friendly staff, will definitely return on our next visit to Newcastle.

Lovely little cafe, we’ve been to Aidens kitchen in Sandyford but thought we’d check out little aidens. Slightly different menu so I went for the meatballs on sourdough. Both these and the pancakes were delicious. They always have the best coffee here :) staff are lovely and quick service.

Really nice well cooked food. Service is ‘5’ if you are onboard with the time it takes to produce the food. The staff are neat and clean, which is great to see the effort made.Bistro brunch for sure.

This sister restaurant to Aidans at Sandyford, serves the same great food but in a more relaxed setting. Based in High West Jesmond it was easy to find and easier to get parked than its big brother restaurant.When we arrived, we were given a complimentary bottle of water, which is always nice. We opted for the smashed avocado with poached eggs and the Mexicana, which is my favourite dish of poached eggs, on sourdough toast with spicy sausages and salsa like mix. The menu explains it far better than I am here. The presentation of the food is great and my wife and I really liked the vibe here; chilled music and friendly staff. The owner spent some time talking to us about this latest venture, and even thought it may not be as busy as Aidans (it's only been open for 4 months) you can tell it will be a success!To conclude we loved the place! Perhaps a little pricey, but we will definitely be back!

Amazing addition to south gosforth. I enjoyed it far more than my experiences at Aidans kitchen. Incredibly friendly staff who made us feel particularly welcome accompanied by a lovely relaxing rustic yet comfortable atmosphere. The Indian state toastie I had was unbelievably flavoursome(And huge!) and the cake selection was wonderful, my slice was so fresh and subtly salty! Can’t recommend this new place enough
