The food here is never less than superb. The service is friendly and the ambience is cosy and comfortable. For what you get I have to say the prices are very competitive too. As the Michelin guide might say, worth a detour.""

The pub is lovely from the outside but a little dark and dated inside, maybe a victim of the pandemic which is a shame because, I imagine a few years back was a lively hub of activity. A bit of a wait for food but was tasty when it arrived, and a good price. The landlord was warm and friendly.

We had a weekend stay at Piggles retreat. We took the short walk to this pub for an evening meal and a couple of glasses of red wine. The owners were very nice and welcoming. Loved how old the place is! The food was lovely and the tips about the local area much appreciated (for example the handy nearby Spa shop & how it's best to take the park and ride into Cambridge as opposed to trying to get a space and pay a lot for it). It was a quaint, welcoming place and the food was very good, especially the chips! Would really benefit from the open fire being on and some cosier seats and decor but completely understand that covid has made times really hard. All in all, would definitely recommend this pub as a quiet, welcoming retreat for nice food and a nice glass of wine.
