Beautiful spot. Skye bridge is pretty impressive and the castle on the islet is very picturesque. Great selection of anchorages up the loch too.

You just never know what might greet you when in, on or around Loch Alsh. I find the whole area stunning and with so much to see and do, I cannot recommend it enough. With watching, walking or boating on offer and several easy access and viewing points from numerous places it can only be described as an area of outstanding natural beauty with an easy-going feel about it, and even the military like it. Dornie, Kyleakin, Ratagan, Balmacara and Kyle-of-lochalsh are townships that support the loch and are areas to visit in their own right. It is all lovely even when the weather is not favourable. Strongly recommended as part of a Highlands tour.

The lake stretches from the isle of Skye 12 kilometers inland to the famous Eilean Donan Castle. Three lakes merge here and the scenery and charm of this part of Scotland make it impossible to forget these views.

Great ammenities here. I would highly recommend stopping here for provisions before driving/heading into Skye. All locals and shop staff are very friendly. There is a train station here which may be quicker than taking the bus. There is also a light house trail here which is worth a visit called Eileen Ban. Great view of the Skye bridge also. If looking to use taxi service I would advise booking in advance.

This place is absolutely beautiful, even on the cold day me and my wife came to visit. The castle itself was closed for a wedding but we could still walk across the bridge and around the grounds for photos etc. Never thought I would be visiting the same set used in Highlander all those years ago
