Very disappointed to say the least.I hired Thomson Roofing to come and repair what was at the time, a slow leak in our roof.A wet patch was starting to form in one of the upstairs bedrooms, but it was still able to self-dry between spells of rain, so it wasn’t too bad.The roofer arrived and diagnosed the issue as a faulty roof vent and returned a few days later to replace it for us. I paid him the same day (my mistake).Unfortunately, after two weeks or so, the leak is significantly worse and we now have water pouring through the ceiling, with significant damage done to the plasterboard in the bedroom.I contacted the roofer at the start of the week to make him aware of this and I was told that he’d be along at some point in the week to fix this for us.It’s been a week since that conversation, and we’ve been told two different days that he was supposedly going to show up last week (including a Saturday that we waiting in for him) only to find that he didn’t.On both occasions of a no-show, I only received a text with a poor excuse as to why he couldn’t make it -after- I contacted him first to ask where he was.After he then proposed a third day, I sent him a text asking him to actually commit to this day now he’s suggested it, as I was getting fed up with being messed-about.Unsurprisingly, he didn’t show up to the third day that he proposed and he’s no longer responding to my texts.Now, I’m not an unreasonable person. I understand the plans change and issues aren’t always resolved on the first fix etc.However, when I leave the date up to you, and you propose three different occasions that you then don’t show up to. And on top of that, you only let me know that you won’t be coming after I’ve already had to text you asking where you are, then it’s safe to say that I won’t be recommending you to anybody.Edit: I’ve now made an edit to this after going up on the roof…The area circled in red in my picture shows the “repair” that I paid for. It’s literally a loose piece of DPC type material that’s been stuffed into a significant gap between two of the slates.Not only should the slates be meeting/ overlapped, but it doesn’t take a qualified roofer to see that this “fix” wouldn’t have fixed the issue.As far as I can tell from my invoice, I also paid to have the vent replaced, and as you can see, it’s still the same old vent that was likely fitted with the original roof, with the addition of some silicone to presumably plug a hole (not sure if this was him or not). Regardless, it’s not a new vent!Honestly, do yourself a favour and just hire somebody else.
