I have collected my converted van from Thompsons today having taken it in for its annual MOT last Friday. It failed with a number of lighting issues and an emissions problem. Thompsons have repaired this for me and I’m pleased that it’s back on the road they’ve done a great job and I’m dead chuffed and it was at a reasonable price. I were dead nervous as I don’t have a lot of money but the pricing was fair and it was reasonable. I’ll be back for my oil leak issue and I hope they don’t mind! Thanks again!

I booked my car in to be looked at as it had a knocking sound. I was charged £60 to be told that they couldn't find what the exact problem was but they thought it might be something that was expensive. I was given the option of replacing an expensive part that may not be the problem or paying £60. It was more advised that i wait until the problem got worse then they would be able to locate the problem so i choose to pay the £60.I recently had an offer from my boyfriends friend who is a mechanic to regas my aircon at his work. He took it to work without the idea that he would fix the knocking sound because he was obviously at work and wouldn't have time. He figured out what the knocking sound was in 5 minutes and ordered the part the same day and fit it for me. The part cost me £13 (obviously I was lucky not to pay labour fees) and he said all in all it took him about 15 minutes out of his day. He said any trained mechanic would have been able to locate this problem so its either a training issue or my car simply wasn't looked at properly/at all.With this is mind im a little bit concerned I was charged £60 for someone to look at my car as I don't feel like I really got anything for what I paid for as the person was either not trained properly, didn't look properly or didn't look at all. I paid this with the pretence that my car was looked at by a fully trained mechanic and he couldn't find the exact issue.I have sent two emails to Thompson with no responseDO NOT USE THEM if you want a problem solved

Unfortunately I broke down at the services on the M6 with a seized AC compressor which caused the Auxilary belt to snap. The car being an import made it hard to locate a replacement compressor. I was recovered to Thomsons of Penrith where the team were amazing at understanding the vehicle setup and got me back on the road in no time with an AC delete replacement belt. Would have been stranded if it were not for the amazing service provided by the team. I can’t thank enough. Definitely recommend to anyone in the area. A family run business who will ensure your car is looked after and understand your circumstance with very fair pricing. One can sense the experience the mechanics had from the initial phone call and even with my questions, suggestions and assumptions of belt sizes the individual was very kind and was happy to discuss whilst put up with my frustrating chat. I called Thompsons garage after my Ford transit custom broke down, it had a power steering fluid leak, shed oil onto the belts and threw two belts off at Ullswater, completely dead, I had it recovered, they spent hours replacing engine components that had been lost as a result of the belts being thrown off (pulleys, belts etc) within 24 hours of them recovering from another garage local to me they had it repaired and ready for collection even though they stated they were really really busy they pulled it out the bag and got me back to work. I can't thank them enough. Will definitely be using Thompsons again. Thank you guys.Rich and Clare Atkinson from Orton.

Big thank you to everyone at Thompson's. Had a fleet minibus go down in the area, and was recommended Thompson's by another local firm as the best garage in the area. They got the bus up and running same day allowing the planned trip to go ahead. Spoke to 4 members of staff on the day who couldn't be more helpful. Clearly a strong positive culture within the business where the customer is valued

Booked an MOT for my van. Unfortunately it failed because the registration plate bulb was not working due to a damaged wire. They fixed it there and then which meant my van then passed and I could get on with my day. Thank you so much.

Thank you for doing the MOT on my car today and spending the extra time fixing the tracking. No one knew it was going to take so long but you saw the job through and didn’t just close up at 5pm.A brilliant, honest and reliable garage and one I’ll always come back to.

What a lush little family business! We broke down about a minute away from this garage with an engine coolant leak. Rang them up to see if they could help & the car was in with them less than an hour later. Both Karen & Dean were so helpful. Reasonably priced too! Can’t thank them enough for helping us out at such last minute. Would definitely recommend :)

I was driving past Penrith when my window wipers stopped working. I called ahead to check their availability and got seen straight away. In the electrical garage we got greeted by a very nice man wearing a yellow hoody. He was a delight to talk to and he also took the time to show me what the problem was.
