Came to buy a capo told by rude staff do you know that costs a lot of money!Worst music shop I’ve ever visited should have just used Amazon. Don’t support these chumps go to a music shop that inspires people!

Mann's Music was an amazing experience, I came in to purchase a set of guitar strings, I approached a member of staff, who I believe was called Darcey as listed on the receipt, and she showed me how to put the new strings into my guitar, and even tuned my guitar for free, I ended up leaving with a guitar tuner, a plastic guitar tool and the original guitar strings.It was a very good experience and I will be going again

Poor experience.I was looking to hire an alto sax for lessons and spoke to Tim on the recommendation of my teacher , all was good we got as far as agreeing a price, discussing payment and photo ID etc.. I was advised to ring back a few days before to check all was well and the sax was available. I did this to be told by a cold and disinterested female member of staff that they dont operate a hire scheme as 'it's more trouble than it's worth admin wise' . I was then told that they dont have one in stock in any case. I have just cancelled my first lesson as I now cant source a sax in time. So poor and hopeless in encouraging people to get involved in music. Do they hire instruments ?? Great question. Depends on whether you ask the left hand or right. I am now going on line to source one. Is it any wonder our High streets are full of charity shops and hair dressers.

I was looking to buy a digital piano, saw it on the website and made an appointment to go in and see it on a Sunday. It was only me in the shop which was great with COVID. Jake and Alex were so helpful and knowledgable. They had the Roland I was interested in all set up ready for me to play and also showed me some other options and gave great advice. The shop has a great stock of Roland, Yamaha and Kawai pianos as well as guitars, accessories and music books.I spent an hour in the shop playing various pianos and getting advice from Alex and Jake which was very relaxed, no pressure to buy. I had a call first thing the next morning to arrange delivery and the piano arrived fully assembled by noon. Tim and his colleague who delivered it were lovely too. They were able to order a non-stocked stool for me from the manufacturer too which will arrive by courier once it’s available.All in all I couldn’t recommend Mann’s music highly enough - really great experience and I will certainly be back. Their customer service is wonderful, they really know their stuff. It’s a great local music shop, well worth a visit.

A 5 star rating is far to low.......its a 10 from me all day long.A great deal on a fender guitar that no other could match.Gave all their time to speak on the phone.So easy to order.A very low cost postage charge, using a very caring superfast delivery company.Superb tracking information from despatch to delivery.Guitar arrived under 24hrs.I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend Manns music to all musicians.Many thanks.

Excellent service dealing with my online purchase. Phil answered all my questions promptly and I was always made to feel I was important to them. I placed the order on Wednesday and received it on Friday, with regular email updates on its progress. I will certainly recommend them.

I visited Mann's music for the first time in many years as I am trying to ensure I support local stores in my return to playing the drums.Last time I shopped Colchester's music shops there was at least 3 general music shops and several specialist music shops, today the bricks and mortar business have gone and my choices were reduced to Mann's Music.So as for my visit I found the whole experience a little clinical, and formal for my own liking. I visited the store on a Saturday morning, from the outside the store appeared to be closed, due to the bright sun and dark internal lighting. Upon entering the store I was greeted a pleasant male who was sat behind the desk, which was nice however instantly I couldn't help notice the Do Not Touch" signs plastered across every instrument located in the sales area. The store itself was so quiet you could hear a pin drop
