Visited 11/12/2023 for works Christmas party, pre ordered from the Christmas menu and had Brie wedges to start which worked well with the accompanying cranberry sauce. Then no main cheese n onion pie so sub’d/changed to cheese n cauliflower pie, which surprisingly decent. The dessert was a lotus biscoffi brûlée which was the best part of the 3 part Christmas menu.Parking available at time of visit.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Came for lunch for the first time 2 months ago and been back twice as it’s such good food and the restaurant has a lovely atmosphere to it. The service is impeccable and we just love it - worth the 12 mile drive!

We called in for food and drinks on Tuesday 14th March.Although the service behind the bar was good, the food service was lacking. My friend ordered a rib eye steak which he liked so no problems there.I ordered an 8 oz smashed burger which came as 2 patties. There is no way that was 8 oz. I queried it with the manager who I believe was called Alex. As I have recently sold my bar and restaurant in Wales I know it was definitely not 8 oz.I suggested it was more like 2 x 2 oz patties. I was that confident that I offered to pay double the bill if they could prove me wrong. The manager went to the kitchen but never returned to give feedback from the kitchen which was very poor service and perhaps was embarrassed as he couldn’t prove me wrong.I had to approach the manager and he said it was 8 oz.The bill arrived and they added extras that never appeared. It’s a lovely setting but it’s the last time I eat there.

Although the food was delicious the young ladies serving was not attentive, the bar was not busy so it’s not like they was rushed off their feet , I’d gone in there with my friend for my 50th birthday meal after we was seated we was left for ages before our orders was taken , then wasn’t asked if we wanted another drink after our meal was finished, we then asked at the bar to order wine at our table, we finally got our wine but to our dismay when going out for a cigarette on returning to our table our drinks had beer removed ( I asked to be seated near smoking area and we had not settled the bill at this point) when I asked where our drinks had gone the lady waitress said oh I thought you had left!! They then brought over a small glass of wine to our table which was no where near the amount they had took as we had bought a bottle and poured it into our glasses , I felt so embarrassed to say we had more in our glasses, very disappointed with our experience wasn’t special at all

Disappointing. First time here, wouldn't rush to go back, had higher expectations. Having difficulty understanding why the place is so highly rated in Bolton, possibly because there is not much competition. The food was reasonable and the venue was a bit underwhelming but the worst part to the experience was the fact that it was freezing in the pub. Not exactly a cosy dining experience, everyone was sitting with jackets on. Upon paying I asked if the heating was not working today and was given a very blunt reply that the heating has been on all day and told that it is minus 2 outside. Not a word of agreement or acceptance or an appology. Just quite a confrontational tone. It's not a huge venue with lofty high ceilings that is difficult to heat" like I was told by the server. I can understand trying to cut down on costs when energy prices have skyrocketed

First time coming here party of 8 for mother in laws 75th birthday.Upon arriving was told table was not ready so had to wait further 15 mins.Upon being told table was ready, only to find table for 6 was prepared.(2 people were added at short notice but staff was ok with this).Only to find when there certain staff member did not add to list (great what a start).Waited for what seemed a lifetime to order starters. When eventually came found mushrooms in sauce to be very bland very small portions.Other members were ok with there's.Main meals came not long after ok we are getting somewhere (NOT).Sister in law ordered chicken curry had chicken with rice (NO CURRY SAUCE) what's that about ???Complained to server was offered another meal but respectfully declined as all meals were now served and did not want to have to wait further, her partner was furious. But said I will have a dessert after.I ordered Sunday roast with my wife roast potatoes were that hard I needed a hammer and chisel, meat was fatty tough gravy was bland, I had pigs in blankets that were undercooked (pink) cauliflower cheese that had no taste. My sister in laws partners food was bland also he was not happy at all. When the very bland tastless mains were somewhat finished.Dessert menu came.We all decided what we would like then waited, waited, waited you get my point.Bill was asked for nearly £250 no apologies or part refund.Interaction with staff was not articulate, as possibly lack of customer service, or just done care attitude.Family member who was furious just walked out saying to his partner just pay for it all.Understanding his frustration I decided to approach member of staff explained how terrible food service and price was.And how upset family members were I myself included.Advised them of writing negative feedback on here.No apologies were given. We then left.Would not recommend seriously overpriced must be no competition around.I will not be coming back !!!I give honest, detailed feedback to help others have good experiences.

Nice place this. We called in for some food , we hadn't booked but a table was available. The food is very nice. Not the cheapest place but it is good. The drinks are expensive especially the wine. Nice place to go to for a special occasion .
