Gowns & Garters was the first shop I went to and, thanks to Saffron, I found my dress. It was completely different to what I thought I wanted but it was perfect.Saffron and Julie really put me at ease as I was nervous looking for my dress. The whole experience with them was fantastic and I was always made to feel like I was special.I highly recommend this wedding dress shop.

Gowns & Garters was the fifth wedding dress shop I went to look for a wedding dress. I am from Northern Ireland and had only lived in England for 12months at that time, so all of my bridal party were back in Northern Ireland, I was on my own for this first visit. Julie made me feel so welcome into her quaint and homely Wedding Dress shop, I described the style of dress that I knew I liked by this stage, Julie listened and said she would pull a few dresses out that she would suggest I try. The very first dress she pulled out I just fell in love with still on the hanger! I can be extremely fussy when I know exactly what I want so for this to happen before I even put the dress on was a great sign. To be honest all the dresses in Gowns & Garters were simply stunning and had we of had a different vibe/style of wedding I could of easily picked 3 more!!The whole process from saying 'Yes to the Dress' with only Julie and myself in the shop to any of my dress fittings, Julie and Saffron are a delight to work with. They listen to you as a customer and couldn't do enough. I even had a slight bridezilla moment the week before collecting my dress and was worried it wouldn't fit, I rang the shop on a Tuesday morning and they were more than happy for me to call in and try it again - of course it was absolutely fine! Julie also kindly packed my dress into a dress box to take on my flight back to Belfast, which was perfect when we arrived. I cannot recommend this shop enough. Thank you so much... I'm just sad I won't get to do this process again!!

After trying on probably over 50 dresses at different shops, I booked an appointment with Gowns & Garters. From the start, they were super helpful in letting me know what dresses they had and what sizes, and when I attended, they were super patient as we found my dress. Julie was super flexible with arranging an appointment to meet again, and she was great with the alterations. They were done very quickly and my dress fit me like a glove. I was super happy with my dress on the day and felt absolutely beautiful. Would highly recommend Gowns & Garters.

I bought my Essense of Australia wedding dress from Gowns & Garters for my wedding back in March. From my very first appointment with Saffron in April 2017 all the way through to my fittings with Julie in March this year, my experience was just wonderful! My appointments were private, not pressured and I tried on as many dresses as I liked! Their advice was valuable and they listened to my likes and dislikes until I found my perfect dress. The alterations are done in house which is a real bonus as Julie is used to working on the dresses which was a comfort to me. On my wedding day I felt incredible! I highly recommended G&G and only wish I could buy wedding dresses all the time! Thank you x

I highly recommend Gowns and Garters if you're looking for a stunning wedding dress and absolutely wonderful service!I first found this shop when I was a bridesmaid for a friend in 2022, and I knew as soon as I set foot in there and saw their dress selection, that I wanted to go there for my wedding dress. I knew that they specifically stocked Essence of Australia dresses too, which was the designer I adored.The ladies who own this lovely little village shop are so incredibly friendly. They are very welcoming for every appointment, and they are also so organised, and really efficient. Their communication is constant throughout your journey with them, and you can email them at any time to ask them a question, which they are always happy to answer.The alterations service was also amazing, and they were able to make my dress exactly as needed for me to be super comfortable in it all day.I got so many compliments on my dress during the wedding day, too.They also do a cleaning service for after your wedding. I have yet to use this, but I have no doubt it will also be a really smooth process, based on all my dealings with them so far!Definitely go to this place if you love the designers they stock. You won't be disappointed!

A love story not only includes those getting married but also those that are part of it in any way and Julie & Saffron from Gowns & Garters have played a big part in our love story in getting to the alter (or should I say beach!) our wedding is not until August but the service and support from Gowns & Garters has been world class, I live up in the North East Of England and have never visited the shop but made enquires at the start as they stocked my dream dress where in the North East it was difficult to source, they supported me with photographs measurements, advice and support remotley which without that I would not of found what I was looking for, I will be forever grateful to Julie & Saffron for taking the stress out of securing the most beautiful dress for my big day! After having a rather bad experience with another bridal shop I went in to see Julie. I knew exactly which dress I wanted but just wanted. I went in to Gowns & Garters and Julie & Saffron were absolutely fantastic. I am so glad I was able to find this little gem of a store. My dress needed to have alterations done and they were carried out perfectly. Thank you once again for making the build up to my wedding feel special.

I visited the store back in 2010 with what was once my sister in law to be when we were searching for her wedding dress. Which the staff where so kind and helpful. I then went back myself once I got engaged in 2013 I had a appointment with saffron and she made me feel very comfortable and relaxed. I knew which dress I loved before I went in the shop. Saffron wanted to help the experience to be perfect so we tried on some other styles first before we tried the one I originally had my heart set on. All the dresses were beautiful and was great to see what i looked like in the other styles. But once I put my dream dress on I couldn’t help but want to stay in it for as long as possible. Saffron bless her heart didn’t mind and didn’t rush me to take it off. And helped me pick out the perfect tiara and veil to go with it. My fitting appointments where both with saffron and Julie and they were amazing I can’t thank them enough for all the hard work they put in with taking my dress in on the areas I wished to be that little more fitted and taking the length up with all the layers that were on my dress. They then went above and beyond knowing we where marrying abroad they steamed and packed my eleven layered dress veil and tiara into a small cabin case ready for me to collect the day before flying out. I would have recommended them to anyone who I know that has got married or due to be married and they all agree that they had the most amazing experience. Thanks you so much Julie and saffron.
