WARNING 15% charge on returns!After buying some paints for a present and having to return them, they wanted to charge me a 15% return handling fee. After spending 30 minutes talking to the staff and manager they decided to be generous and only" charge me a 10% fee for the return (see image attached).Long story short: I ended up paying almost £10 for nothing as I returned all the items I bought. Outrageous experience.Will never buy again in this shop. Better go to ATLANTIS ART MATERIALS which is way cheaper and has a wider range of products.Why should the customer pay for returning some items?Why they charge a handling fee based on a percentage of the purchase instead of a fixed fee? Is it because it takes more work to handle the return of a 1 item worth £1 than an item worth £100? I really doubt it

This is the best art materials shop I've ever used. The staff are all incredibly knowledgeable and they've given me invaluable advice over the years. Some of the key things I buy from AP are: Lascaux cotton duck canvas, Shellsol (this is the best odourless solvent I know of), Lascaux brushes are wonderful and the acrylic size is great too.

Fantastic help from the staff who were most patient and empathetic. I went there to buy a brush but came away with a paint set and a tube of white paint! They stock Kremer pigments and watercolour sets and these are well worth trying out. The range of pigments is quite exceptional if you are into making your own paints. If you work in charcoal they stock the Nitram compressed charcoal sticks ....these are a joy to work with. They don't crumble and your hands don't get messy either!

A P Fitzpatrick is an excellent art shop. The service is great and the staff are so knowledgeable. I couldn't recommend highly enough.

Charging 15% in refunds. Taxes aren't included in the price and they didn't say anything until you go to pay..Worse experience ever in a art shop, rude, pretencius and very unprofessional staff.

Rude and condescending staff. One of the staff was very cheerful and pleasant, however the worker behind the till was borderline nasty. She made backhanded comments about the supplies, brands I was looking for and implied I didn’t know what I was doing. I’ve been working professionally as an artist for years now but regardless, if I were a first time buyer wanting to take up painting as a hobby that type of gatekeeping and pretentiousness is incredibly off putting and the type of thing that gives the art world a bad name. I left the shop feeling frustrated and insulted. Won’t be going back which is unfortunate because the supplies all seem to be top quality

very good selection of pigments. Really nothing else in London I can think of comes close. Very friendly staff, enjoyed a good chuckle with them.

I have expended more than a 100 pound in oils that they recommend me. After realize that the quality are not the expected, (were to liquid, more like goache than a oils, and impossible to dry) I went there to returned the materials, they being extremely rude, they told me they don´t make refunds, I have to insisted, then they only got the unopened oils, they gave me a poor cash back in addition they charge me a 10% discount just for handling. I went back home feeling really bad.Then I being waiting for more than a month for the cash back, so I feeling really frustrated I went to my Bank, they open a dispute and finally the refunded this few money straight away.Is the worse fine art shop I have never being.
