Autotec Bristol MOT Garage & Service Center (OPEN DURING LOCKDOWN)
Disappointing. Not respecting customer time. Booked appointment at 14.00 when arrived on the place was informed that garage can't take car. After speaking with different staff member did receive short answer leave car it will be done maybe today or maybe tomorrow"I do understand that service could be busy but please respect customer time as well as there is no problem of finding service in different garage."

Absolutely awful experience with this company. Originally had service and MOT booked on the same day. Two days before had to cancel the MOT due to sickness. Rescheduled for the following Saturday, had some plans booked and agreed with the staff member that the car could be kept there till the Monday morning, perfect! Had the service but no idea what I paid for, no invoice offered and wasn’t told anything about the car, was told I’d get it later by email. So paid my £150 or so. Arrived the following Saturday as arranged only to be told there and then the guy was off again and the MOT had to be cancelled. Still no invoice and no MOT. Left extremely unhappy and still no invoice. Will not use again.

I would thoroughly advise against using this garage. My personal experience with them has been horrendous. They performed an MOT on my car, which they failed. They failed the car on the breaks, licence plate light and stating the bonnet would not close. The only thing that was correct about this MOT was the fact the licence plate light did not work.I was immediately suspicious as I had my breaks replaced last year and also the fact that I very easily closed the bonnet of my car in front of them, by dropping it from less than 6 inches. Alarm bells also began to ring when they refused to tell me what was wrong with my breaks and said if I wanted to know I would have to pay them £60-100 an hour for diagnostics. They also failed to provided me with an invoice.I immediately called another reputable garage who performed the MOT and told me that there was nothing wrong with my breaks and bonnet and that all I needed was a new licence plate bulb which they kindly replaced.I informed Autotec of this and they produced a story stating their break machine was extremely sensitive which is why it picked up my breaks issue. (A story immediately proven false by the fact that the garage that did the second MOT stated that it was well within limit to pass).I have been back to the garage 5 times in the last 2 weeks trying to get an invoice from them. Each time I have been told to come the next day. This morning they provided an invoice that was incorrectly dated for payment.I have reported this garage to the DVSA as it is my firm belief that they were trying to charge me for work that was not needed.Having read through other reviews on this site, it appears that this is a common tactic of this garage. If anyone has had similar experiences, I would urge them to contact the DVSA to protect other potential customers.

Avoid. They did work that was unnecessary and over charged me for work that I could have had done elsewhere for far less. Quoted me £1000 for work that was unnecessary. Charged me for diagnostic work and then gave me no answer. Charged for £25 for individual code checks (you can buy the machine for less than £25 off amazon). They then quoted £3000 for a replacement part, honestly don't know where they got that number from. Picked my car up after an MOT with an expensive issue with my suspension that wasn't there when I dropped it off. Took it to a different garage which told me it was an MOT failure. Won't be returning, they're just not a good garage.

AVOID!!! ~ Wasted time and money..I'm owner of Classic Toyota MR2 1991 and it was time to look for MOT.My current garage refused because this car was too low to get on their lift so I started to look for another Garage with better Lift. Then i found Autotec around my area and noticed that photo with Caterham on proper Lift.I called by closing time to get appointment but that guy said:Ok

Don't ever take your car to this garage!!. They're scammers. They broke my car and they don't take responsibility, also They're gonna overcharge you and make sure that you have to take your car back to them. BE CAREFUL.

Booked in for an MOT against my better judgement given the other reviews, but I needed it done quickly. The first slot was cancelled by them and they offered me a date on the Saturday. I delivered it to them at the start of the day as requested and didn't hear anything from them all day. I called them and their system said they were closed on Saturdays, so I wandered over to find them shut, thankfully with my car still outside. I needed the car from 5am on the Monday, and told them this when booking it in. They effectively attempted to steal the vehicle for the weekend, and left it outside and unlocked so anyone could pilfer it's contents. It is only by chance that I had the spare key that I could recover it to go to work.Additionally it failed its MOT on the basis of a dirty headlight... Any other garage I know would've just wiped it clean and moved on.It seems cheap and convenient, but just be wary of giving them your car if you need it back for anything within 48 hours...*****Update in light of their reply for those considering future visits to this place.*****The language used on the recorded line when you changed my booking instructed me to drop it from 9am Saturday not at 9am Saturday.I had specified that I was away and ergo required the vehicle from the Monday, at which point waiting till 9am on that day to retrieve it would not be practical. The implication that I should have appeared to collect it without ever being contacted baffles me, every other gargage I've ever visited will call when work is completed or because they need authority to carry out further work.Thankfully for me they had left the vehicle out on the street such that it was even possible for me to retrieve, although I observe that they clearly planned to leave it unlocked on the street over the weekend such that any contents in it could be freely accessed by anyone. In regards to the banging on the shutters" this too is a misrepresentation of what occurred. I returned to the garage later in the day as I was concerned I had not heard from them

Failed my car on MOT for excessively worn" rear bushes and "excessive play" in track rod ball joints. Quoted £1000.Took car home to do work myself. Absolutely nothing wrong with either of those parts on my car.Money grabbing scammers

AVOID! Misdiagnosed the issue and tried to overcharge me nearly £1000 to get my steering rack replaced when it was actually the pump that needed replacing. So glad I rang other garages to get a second opinion / quote. If you’re looking for a reliable Bristol garage - Roundway Garage is the one.

I don't usually write reviews, but after the experience I had with autotec and all the negative comments I read, I felt I had to write about my experience.I was working in Bristol on a teaching assignment at a local school, not local to area and from Burnley. My 2015 BMW was having some major mechanical issues, engine management lights, steering issues, random smoke from the exhaust, issue was getting worse, I searched for local garages and was also recommended from the head teacher about autotec, hence contacted autotec, spoke to a gentleman called 'barney', we discussed my issues and agreed a plan of work. Unfortunately with mechanical work i never straightforward, hence Barney understandably could not commit to a price, parts, labour, time, Barney called me throughout the process and we worked out a plan and I was informed all the way and options presented throughout.Barney and his team were great and got my car ready just before the half term holidays and was able to drive home.I highly recommend autotec after my personal experience. Honestly would drive from Burnley to get work done on my car if practical
