Greedy bar stewards who want to charge to shoot a few photos for a couple who had just got married. Publicly funded yet want to charge 'about £50' (according to the member of staff who hounded us) for 5 minutes of photos. I don't think so. Total greed, nothing more. Edinburgh is awash with fabulous vistas - such a shame the clowns running this venue think they own the place. In a response to another photographer, the anonymous staff member said Admission to our site is free and visitors are welcome to take photos anywhere they like but as a charity we charge for commercial photoshoots."You've received public funding to the tune of tens of millions of pounds

Worth a visit for the panoramic views of the city. In addition, there are interesting exhibition. Don't miss to visit the gift shop to learn about the astronomy and see the telescope.

A newly renovated art space with incredible views over the city. The main building hosts a shop and library while on the grounds are two unique exhibition spaces that show emerging artists. A great cafe, owned by the famed Gardener’s Cottage, exists on site along with a small coffee stand at the entrance. It’s definitely worth a stop on the Edinburgh tourist trail - go for the views and stay for the art.

Small place with few things to look at. Free entry. What few items they have on display are very fascinating.

Worth it if only for the architecture and history of the buildings themselves. Exhibits were a waste of time when we visited. Bougie equivalent of minimal viable product.

Great renovation of the old observatory! For anyone looking for an alternative viewpoint of Edinburgh, this is worth a walk up. You'll find a number of pop up exhibition and a small shop here, all housed in some nifty architecture. Do visit on a clear day and do bring a camera!

Wonderful place to visit, just be prepared for a bit of a climb but so worth it for the views of surrounding Edinburgh. The exhibits are pretty cool as well. Parking along some nearby streets seems to be free on the weekends. Entry is free as well so all around a fun day for the whole family.

Really enjoyed my trip to the current exhibition, Cauleen Smith's video installation HELLO. More than happy to make a small donation to support this great space. Very relaxed and welcoming space. Small suggested fee to use the bathroom. A unique art experience. Looking forward to seeing what is on next.
