BAD BAD BADIn a former corporate life I handled negotiations and litigation with many, many solicitors and legal firms from the largest to the smallest.Based on my experience I would give this firm a rating of 3 on a scale of 1 to 10.I personally would never have chosen this firm to act on my behalf but had to deal with them as I was a beneficiary of my mother's estate.I complained to the Legal Ombudsman about this firm and was awarded an amount on account of poor service" that I refused to accept.Litigation is pending.Be forewarned!"

Incredible service, kept us fully informed the entire way through the process. Always made the time to explain anything that we weren't clear on. Would highly recommend!

We decided that M&L are the best solicitors in Petersfield.When you're buying or selling a house, like us, you probably have no idea what to look for. (That's probably why you're checking this review).You're probably basing your decision on the logo - or the nice address.We can honestly say, while the logo and address are excellent - it's the people who have made working with M&L a delight. And we never thought we'd use the word delight and conveyancing in the same sentence.Our solicitor, Charlotte Oldham, (and her assistant Christine) have guided us through a very dull and potentially fraught process with patience, explaining the odd procedures of the rubbish English house selling system super clearly (which it turns out is what we should all be truly looking out for in law firms). But what's special about M&L for us was the extra mile that Charlotte and her colleagues went to for moving the process along on our behalf, and kindly avoiding us costly delays.We cannot recommend M&L more highly.Six stars.

I was looking for a local solicitor with expertise in ‘country’ issues. Unfortunately I found that M & L, although promising this, were not at all helpful. Extended staff absences without any explanation, failure to understand my needs and persisting in their own interpretation. When one partner retired I wish I had changed to a different practice.

Feb 2021 - In addition to my previous review I have recently concluded the sale and purchase of a new home. The purchase was via auction. The service both in speed of response and depth of knowledge was first class. Sarah Baker reported back on the legal pack extremely quickly enabling me to secure the property and negotiate reasonable terms with the vendors representatives pre auction. In a sometimes fraught transaction she remained calm and very importantly available to respond to the various bumps that inevitably come up during these deals. Another 2 jobs extremely well done. Thank you very much Sarah and Team.August 2019 - I have had 2 extremely positive experiences with Mackarness and Lunt. They did an excellent and sensitive work looking after my Mothers and Grandfathers Estate and thereafter prepared fairly complex and bespoke wills for my wife and I. This work was undertaken promptly, with high levels of professionalism and understanding for our unique needs. I would highly recommend them for Probate work and Will drafting.

What a professional company. We wanted to surrender our commercial lease and Stephen advised and handled the transfer. He made it so easy for use. I would use M&L again as I know I would be in excellent hands.

Fantastic service purchasing our house. Provided a really personal, professional and efficient service - we're used to having to chase solicitors, but we were kept us regularly updated on what was going on and never felt like our case had been left sitting on a desk.

If you are looking for a local, long established and friendly firm of solicitors, then stop looking now. M&L are by far the most helpful firm I have dealt with. Not only have they done my house conveyancing, sorted out my will but have also given excellent advice and support regarding divorce. I consider them to be honest, polite and compassionate. My parents and siblings have now also instructed them after my positive experiences.
