Semi-regular since 2013ish. Well kept beer, good quality food in good sized portions, friendly staff, small and cozy, nice beer patio, right next to church (bell ringing practice Wed evenings!), background music seems to feature a lot of Rod Stewart.Update Aug2022: the pub has re-furbished its outdoor area, making it bigger and decorating it with white and and pink, installing lots of superb lighting, underneath clear canopies. An amazing environment for summer. Food remains good value and delicious.

Beautiful country pub perfect for a big roast after a long walk. They even provided beef and gravy for our very obliging dog! The only downside is that the veggies could use more seasoning

What can I say!! What an amazing experience we’ve had. The food was amazing and the service was really attentive. Great vegetarian option. The pub is really cute and unique. Our kids enjoyed their meal as we did. ( our kids are fussy so an empty plate is a good thing) Food was fresh and we will be be back. We came from Essex to meet our friends from Milton Keynes for a dog walk. Very dog friendly too as they did sausages for them and dog treats. Thank you so much for your hospitality!

Friendly, local, pub-style stylish. Lovely outside setting. Iocation perfect - centre of the village, opposite the church. This for me is ideal.

Turned up here after a walk. Hadn't booked but we're lucky enough to get a table. Staff are lovely and so accommodating despite being rushed off their feet nothing was too much bother. The Sunday roast was more than adequate and went down a treat. Thanks to all especially the lovely happy lady who sorted our table.

Had a disappointing mother's day Sunday lunch here. In terms of service, the waiter asked for our drinks order before we'd even sat down at the table which was a bit too keen for my liking, but was otherwise attentive and helpful. The staff didn't seem to communicate well with each other, as another member of staff kept appearing almost immediately after we'd already been served to ask if we wanted anything.I was expecting more for going out on mothers day food wise, and I wasn't a fan of the roast at all unfortunately. All the veg including potatoes tasted bland and unseasoned and I think it's the first time in my life I've never finished a Yorkshire pudding (the best bit of a roast in my opinion!), which had a burnt and smokey taste to it. The lamb looked like thin sandwich meat which was disappointing. I also didn't like the mint gravy. I didn't feel it was worth £16.95. There were no gluten free or appealing dairy free dessert options which generally are easy to come by these days. There were also no dairy milk alternatives for hot drinks post meal, so our meal ended earlier than planned as we ventured elsewhere to seek cups of tea and pudding. There was no dessert menu online that I could see before arriving to judge better ahead of making the booking. Attaching it for future customers! Would not return.

Hosted a 30th birthday party for 20 people to have Sunday lunch. Great job, we were all very happy with the service and food. The roasts were delicious and the pub is very comfortable and quaint. Everyone was very impressed. Thank you to Jake especially.Highly recommend for large parties!

The Queen's Head
Really attractive-looking pub in a lovely location - next to the church and ideal for visiting Heartwood Forest.Only ever visited on a Sunday and, for me, the interior is too dark and the aroma of cooking is too overpowering if you just want a drink. Saying that, the Sunday Roasts look and smell great, but I personally prefer the lighter and more airy feel of The Green Man.Although, again in my opinion, The Queen’s Head does have the better Beer Garden - walled on one side and overlooking the church on the other. Great variety of comfortable outdoor seating and great for people/dog watching.

What an absolute gem of a pub. We come up monthly to see friends and tried this place out as our usual had closed down; wish we’d tried it sooner!Great service, lovely food and a fabulous outdoor area that’s lovely on a sunny afternoon and it’s dog friendly inside and out!Would definitely recommend The Queens Head!

This is such a hidden gem. If you blink, you'll miss the road, but you'll soon regret it if you don't experience the beauty and the gorgeous seating at the rear.Great service and lovely smiled on entry. The rear space for seating and entertaining is fabulous.Come and see for yourself. It's my favourite country pub around and I'm new to the area but boy is it great.Great value for money and service you get.
