Had a nice overnight stay rooms are great & good value. The service on breakfast wow I would’ve rather got up & cooked it myself. Very rude staff not at all attentive, we was going to book for Sunday roast but after the breakfast service I wouldn’t ask them for a bag of crisps. Hotel can’t fault & staff upon check in was faultless.

arrived 1:10pm on thursday after hiking. all the restaurant tables were either occupied or booked (near christmas). plenty of seats in the bar area. the meals, chicken, leek and mushroom pie and mixed grill that we ordered were tasty. the mulled cider was good and warned me up after hiking in a cold day.

I recently stayed at The Horse & Jockey as part of my best friends wedding. Myself, the groom and 2 other friends were staying the night before the wedding and had booked a table for food along with the grooms family. I ordered the Jockey Burger and it was amazing. Cooked to perfection and the chips were also really really good. We stayed in the bar area and continued to have some drinks and play pool and darts. Darren was working on the bar and was really friendly and helpful and was chatting to us all night. The room I had was one of the double rooms and was really nice, clean and spacious. The bed for me, was really comfortable, but the following night, my partner said she didn't sleep too well. The morning of the wedding we had a complimentary breakfast and went for the house English (full English) again, really good quality food and very filling with a massive slab of white bloomer. All in this was a brilliant place to eat, drink and sleep. We didn't get discounted rates for the wedding being at The White Hart but even at full price I would pay it still. I also messed up and left my dental retainers in my room and when I got home, I called and was advised they held on to them for me and I was able to retrieve them later that day. 10/10 experience for me. and would 100% stay again!

I stayed at the horse and jockey for 2 weeks whilst completing a training course, the room was very clean and cleaned to a high standard every day. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast every morning was lovely and cooked perfectly. The evening meals were delicious.

We had a very pleasant 2 day stay here the first evening we had a 3 course meal plus a cocktail which was included in our package. This was very good value and the food was excellent, the service was great our waitress was very helpful. The breakfast on a morning was plenty of choice and cooked fresh. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it.

Called in for a bit of food and a drink unplanned. Staff were great and found us a table even though they were very booked up. Had a selection of their starters, tapas style. All the food was fantastic!! We'll definitely be going back another time.

Absolutely brilliant, not more to say. Didn’t stay over but went for Sunday dinner, service exemplary, food beautiful & beer tasty. What more could one ask for?The gammon was beautiful. Vegetables done to perfection. Starters were fresh and tasty (no bidvest stuff here!)Was a first time visit but won’t hesitate to visit again.Want to stay over and make a weekend of it & certainly plan on doing the champagne breakfast too.

Rooms clean with nice size bed and quiet fora good night's sleep. Probably the best cooked breakfasts (to order) we've had - really good taste and size and within the booking charge.Only disappointment was the staff mostly wandering aimlessly in the bar on a night and next morning. No interaction so folks just left standing unsure.

Met family for Sunday lunch here. Service and facilities good but the quality of the food itself seems to have dropped as the pub has expanded. Roast dinners more expensive than previously, smaller portions and no outstanding flavours from meat or vegetables.

I'm not sure where to go with this but here we go anyway.Lovely building, interior really nice, nice tables and chairs, staff were efficient, well trained and friendly. We ate in the cellar which was great. Now for the less good bit - Sunday lunch, roast beef, ordered, everything was hot and tasty but the beef was cooked to within an inch of its life and the portion was mean, three scratty bits, all small. The next bit is personal opinion but mange tout and braised pickled red cabbage are not sunday lunch veg.Overall a good experience but I shan't be returning.
