Way way way way way tooooo expensive. But parking attendents were great. Hope they are on a good wage after the amount I had to pay for it. Beautiful forest Its a shame more people cant enjoy it because of how much it costs to park :(

There are two main carparks at Hatfield Forest; one at the front entrance, the other is through the forest and closer to the main walking areas. Both have ample parking.

We were told car park was fully booked although the place was almost empty. Stuff was kind and directed us to park on the road near the church, which we did. We were however limited to max 2h stay due to road park rules. When we left we noted official car park was still almost empty… It’s either the computer system that failed them, either some stupid rule followed blindly, nevertheless experience could be improved and visitors could be treated better and made feel more welcome.

The days was a wet and damp New Year day, ideal for a brisk walk and a snack at the cafe. Ideal place for taking dogs and children for walks. Cafe sells chips, warming soup and rustic brown bread, burgers etc.

Hatfield Forest is a gift, a stunning feature in the landscape, an uplifting and thoroughly enjoyable place to visit, and it's completely FREE to enter. You can cycle there from the Flitch Way, walk there from Takeley Street, get off a bus on Dunmow Road and walk 100 yards straight into it. IT IS FREE FOR ALL OF US. The National Trust do all of this for us, for no charge. It's outstanding of them.(The ranty bit) - OR you can drive there in your own car, park in a private car park and follow any number of nice paths right into the woods and round the lake. Of course it's not going to be free to park - THEY HAD TO TARMAC OVER THE FOREST TO MAKE IT! Then maintain the thing because hundreds of thousands of other people use the car park each year without complaining.Visit outside of peak hours and the parking is free, what more can you ask?!? Please, just pay the small fee if you want to step out of the car and straight into this FREE splendour. Or join the National Trust and they will teach you about all the hard work that goes into maintaining a 403.2 hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest.Just visit it, enjoy it and perhaps give a back a few quid in the car park or cafe. My family absolutely love the place and take pleasure in giving them some money for the privilege of using it.

Best place to walk your dog. Big enough to get lost in. Loads of wildlife, deer, birds, fox, badgers etc...Parking is now £6 which I think is a lot but free for members.Cafe is okay too with toilets

With multiple car parks available, this park offers a range of pathways to either get lost in the forest, wander around the lake and access a cafe, or simply find a green space for a picnic! As the days are getting warmer and nature greener, definitely a place to visit again and again. It is only too easy to get lost in its serenity and the stillness of its vistas. We were not early enough to try the cafe. But we had a fun wander around the forest and found the park very welcoming! We will definitely return for more peaceful walks!
