NI Vans - Servicing, Mechanic, Car MOT, Mini Specialist

(Me) Car went in with an oil leak and few other bits needing done, £2000 later, most bits were done but still had an oil leak. Returned car after a week and tried to claim it was a new leak. Didn’t believe a word, was wanting more money, car had hardly moved and it was more likely not diagnosed correctly the first time. He didn’t like to hear this and I was told not to bring the car back to him. Have been reluctant to leave this review but left no option as it still annoys me that it’s all good when taking your money but offers no guarantee to the workmanship. Don’t believe this is any more specialist than any other mechanic.(Ni Vans response)And it took you 3 months to leave this review! Two sides to every story, after a heated debate we repaired your mini cooper s oil leak at no charge to yourself. You fail to mention this in your review. Sorry you feel this way and we wish you good luck with your mini ownership.(Me) It’s doesn’t matter how long it’s took to leave a review. You didn’t even say that the sump was repaired or going to be repaired, hence it not mentioned, I’m actually pleased that it was done but I’ve still oil leaking from the same area it went in with. Hence my continued frustration and passing my reluctance to leave a review. I don’t leave bad reviews just for the fun of it but I do believe that the job wasn’t carried out properly. You claim it’s a new leak and I know it’s not. You took money claiming to be a specialist and didn’t find the source of the leak, when questioned you turned nasty and didn’t like it. Never have I been told not to return to a shop or store but you feel the need to say it.Coincidence that you’ve now removed the reviews tab from your page.

I used NI Vans to get a full service and MOT prep for my car. It was my first time using NI Vans and everything was perfect from start to finish. I received fast and friendly replies to any queries I had, and I was kept up to date throughout the process. The price was very reasonable. I would definitely use NI Vans again and recommend them to other people.

Friendly family business. Easy to talk to, and fitted secondhand power steering pump, changed fluid, plus engine oil and filter change for fair price. I would certainly go back for future problems with my Mini JCW.

Hiring the van was painless, took about 10 minutes at the premises for paperwork and insurance and we were ready to go. The van we hired was clean and tidy.

I'm not a fan of leaving bad reviews, but here I am. I brought the car to NI Van's after speaking to Brian, I originally contacted Brian to enquire about walnut blasting my inlets valves because the car was running very badly, my car is a Peugoet with a mini engine so because it was a Peugeot it was £450 rather than £250 for a Mini. I explained I had problems with the car since buying it and Brian said he had spoke to a lot of guys like me who had problems with this engine and who had thrown a lot of money at the problem with other mechanics and had not been any better off and he could sort it. So I dropped the car off, called back a week later to pick it up. The bill was £900, as well as the walnut blasting it need an oil feed pipe to the turbo and some seals around the filter housing, I knew it wouldn't be cheap (£450 for an oil pipe and a few seals) but I did expect the car to be running as it should, it did run better but it was obvious there were still problems. Within a day the engine management light was on, I read the live data on the car and the fuel trims were shocking to say the least, I can only assume the mechanic didnt look at the live data. I contact Brian who said to buy a diverter valve and fit it myself. Bought the diverter valve, fitted it, still problems. So £900 later and the car is still not right. The car definitely runs better but it wasnt the job I was told I would get. I am disappointed.EDIT - Valves were checked and are in terrible condition, looks like they've been cleaned with gravel and NOT walnut. I'm seeking legal advice.

The only person I trust to work on my MINI. Great knowledge, only high quality parts provided and stands over his work.

My Mini, once again, drives much better. I wonder why ;) Also thank you for neatly folding and stapling the invoice into the service book - very thoughtful :D

Brian and his team have been class. They clearly know my car (R56 Cooper S) inside out and Brian himself has been very accommodating with fitting me in on short notice and in advising me on the health of my car including how to keep her in good shape going forward preempting future issues.Work has been done very quickly and costs are very fair.If I only knew more Mini-heads I'd send them this way!

Took my 2018 F56 Cooper S to Brian to purchase and have fitted a JCW exhaust. Clearly a very knowledgeable guy and very amicable. Would highly recommend for any repairs, upgrades, parts. Really knows his stuff and fair pricing.
