Arnot House

Wonderful and friendly hostess you couldn't ask for a wonderful more wonderful friendly environment to meet a friend I've been corresponding with for 5 years. Kim made me feel like I was at home. I will recommend her place to family and friends.

Kim is a gracious host. Her home was immaculate and beautiful. The wonderful breakfast, her local knowledge and her warm greetings every morning and evening when we returned home all made for a delightful time in York!

Very nice clean place. Comfortable bed and very good owner! She’s there for anything you need and makes a awesome breakfast. First time staying at a Bed and Breakfast as well so I was kinda nervous at first but I’m really glad I gave it a try and will always stay here if I’m in the area.

We had a wonderful stay at this B&B in October. The location makes it ideal with a short stroll to the city centre. The room on the top floor looked out towards York Minster and was decorated in a wonderful Victorian opulence. Loved the welcome with freshly baked cakes and the basket of emergency supplies and yes we needed the shower gel. Even a decanter of sherry which was a lovely thought. We were given lots of information and a map for exploring and location of local restaurants. There was even a corkscrew in the room for the bottle we brought back from the meal. The 4 poster bed was so comfy so a great nights' sleep. And who wouldn't enjoy a soak in the claw foot deep bath complete with canopy, filled at speed with the hottest water and provided bubble bath and a robe and slippers for use afterwards. A delicious and filling breakfast with something for all tastes and tea served in a teapot with sugar cubes in a bowl with silver tongs. It's all the attention to details that makes this such an experience. This was the last night of our short honeymoon up north and we will definitely be back!!

We last stayed at Arnot House in 2000 for my wife’s 40th birthday and it was superb. So as we approached our 25th wedding anniversary I wanted to go back to York and decided to visit Arnot House again. We were not disappointed in fact it was better than before, the attention to detail was spot on from the welcome basket including toothbrush, ibuprofen, nail polish remover, plasters - I could go on. When we arrived there was a wonderful card and 2 bottles of Prosecco waiting for us and the whole ambience is incredible. The room decor is enhanced by the magnificent 4 poster bed and the period furniture/soft furnishings. Ask Amy question on York and you will receive detailed answers on best places to visit, best places to eat etc. Just a wonderful place and your trip to York will be greatly enhanced by staying at Arnot House.

The decision to visit York, England was made. Now where to stay? We wanted a location close to the city center but away from the hustle and bustle. I consulted the Rick Steves guide to England and he recommended Arnot House as a good place. He was not wrong! After our reservations were made, the owner mailed us a guide map, restaurant recommendations, and a brochure for the house.On arrival we were greeted by the lovely Kim who welcomed us and assisted with all our plans like a premiere travel guide. She was familiar with hours of operations, train and bus schedules, easy to follow directions and local weather forecast.We highly recommend Arnot House as a clean and comfortable accommodation in York. The included breakfast will impress any palate and offers several options to enjoy.Sharon Leyva

Very quirky . Decorated in keeping with its Victorian structure. Spotless and comfortable. Short walk into town. Fabulous cooked breakfast. Would definitely return!

We loved our two-night stay at the Arnot House in July 2022. Kim, the owner, was the friendliest and most gracious host and we thoroughly enjoyed our chats with her. The nicely appointed room was very comfortable and quiet, and she thought of every single detail to make our stay pleasant. The location was easily accessible by foot to/from the train station and the city centre. Best of all, was the delicious full English breakfast. It was outstanding! We very highly recommend!
