We went to register our daughter today, and the lady registrar was absolutely amazing! We had such a lovely time talking to her she didn't rush us out. Thank you for making our morning

The Registrar that I spoke to in order to register my husband’s death was very kind and easy to talk to BUT the waiting room area itself was awful. People registering births were sat together with those registering deaths (did this include parents registering the death of a child I don’t know, I hope not?) I found it very upsetting. Very little thought or consideration for the bereaved seems to have gone into the place.I am disabled and live over 50 miles away from Birmingham but there didn’t appear to be any nearby parking which made access very difficult for me. Couldn’t the council have found somewhere more pleasant to site the office, particularly for weddings it was really grim.A few weeks after my visit I needed to speak to someone there but it was completely impossible to actually get through to a human being. After trying for sometime I realised the only way was by email but it took them 2 weeks to reply and only then after I had emailed them again.

They asked for £50 if you want to get your child’s birth certificate on same day. In Worcester we paid only £11 and ladies in Worcester said their is no such service with £50 charge. Also the next appointment was 27th December to register birth , in Worcester next day appointment £11, happy days. They can keep eating their biscuits with tea.

My husband and I had our wedding here on 29th July. I only have good things to say about the staff here. From the time we gave our notice up to the day of the ceremony, they were accommodating and friendly. We didn't feel as if it was groundhog day for the staff, just another wedding, let's go move on. No. We felt cared for by the staff. Thank you. The Deputy Superintendent Registrar and Deputy Registrar were very nice. When I came out of the holding room with my parents, I was pleasantly surprised to see my toddler goddaughter with her mother (one of my oldest friends and one of our witnesses) at the table. At the end of the ceremony, my friend said that my goddaughter was crying wanting to be with her and the Deputy Superintendent Registrar allowed her. I was so grateful. They then said that the child was very well behaved during the ceremony and I said oh this is my goddaughter!" and the Deputy Superintendent registrar said "all the more reason that she should be up here". These were very kind words. Thank you. Thank you so much to everyone who made our day special.Just a tip for couples who plan to hold their ceremony here: there is a final interview before the ceremony. The registrars will check if the details you provided during your notice appointment are correct as it will be reflected on your marriage certificate. If you're the bride and you don't want your groom to see you before you walk down the aisle

We were married here in June 2023. We had a wonderful and memorable day. The staff were very accomodating and friendly. The ceremony itself was well organised and felt special. We were fortunate to have good weather too – taking pictures afterwards in the courtyard was a great experience. If you are looking for a more relaxed wedding away from the traditional big venues, we would definitely recommend this!

I ordered a birth certificate 3 weeks ago, it's still not arrived and I can't get hold of anyone on the phone. Stafford council sent an different one within 3 days , the difference is night & day. What a disgrace.

G maps was excellent at guiding me to the BRO considering all the new road layouts and building work being carried out in Birmingham.

My recent interaction with the Birmingham City Council registry office during a very difficult time for my family was disheartening and disappointing. We needed to register my sister's death and had already arranged her funeral according to our religious customs.Regrettably, when I approached the staff and requested an appointment before the scheduled funeral, explaining the urgency of our situation as Muslims who aim to conduct burials promptly, I was met with complete refusal. What struck me the most was the lack of compassion and understanding from the office's personnel.Despite my pleas and efforts to convey the emotional distress and cultural sensitivities involved, the staff showed no willingness to accommodate our request or acknowledge the significance of acting promptly during a challenging time for our family. It is essential for a registry office to recognise and address the unique needs of individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and provide a more compassionate and accommodating service, especially during sensitive circumstances like a bereavement. Unfortunately, this was not the experience I encountered with the Birmingham City Council registry office. In such difficult times, a little empathy and flexibility could go a long way in providing support and comfort to grieving families. I hope that in the future, the office can improve its approach to better serve the community during such trying moments.

My daughter got married here on Saturday. The staff were very pleasant, helpful and supportive. They guided us gently through the whole process. On the hottest day of the year, they made us feel comfortable. Thankyou to you all.
