My son was moving from Newcastle under Lyme to Stoke. On the day that he moved I phoned the council to enquire if it was OK to take a van to Hanford. The lady was very helpful and assured us it was fine. After arriving at Hanford, we encountered Ian who asked for my son's driving licence which obviously still said ST5. We explained the situation however Ian was extremely pompous and arrogant and seemed to enjoy the power trip of refusing us entry as he strutted around doing nothing. If using Hanford tip please ensure you respect Ian's authority as the king of the tip.

States open till 5.30pm when drive in but shuts 4.15pm. REALLY BAD THAT YOU CANT GET YOUR SIGNAGE CORRECT AND WASTE PEOPLEs time and money travelling there

Driven out today at 2pm with car full of rubbish. The tip says open on website so checked before I went. Got there and they decide they are closed. Why is this not updated on the website this day and age.... Really frustrating. They wonder why people flytip.!!

Hanford Household Waste Recycling Centre
Website states closes at 16:30 however gate closed at 16:15 to stop access. The guy said had to clear the skips of vehicles for 16:30 and wouldn’t let us in at 16:16. The close time needs to change to 16;15 so people don’t waste fuel traveling to there for no reason. Or like the website states close at 16;30. Is this what I pay my council tax for?

Must admit I felt nervous going to the tip for the first time, but we were welcomed by the most friendliest guy who sorted everything out for us, will feel so much better about coming back next time!
