Wakehurst Place Car Park
We had a lovely day exploring. Some paths were closed and as first timers we couldn’t find all the bits we were looking for but it’s a beautiful place. We hoped to have lunch there but there were crazy queues for the stables so we promised the kids we’d go back later. Unfortunately both the stables and visitor Centre cafe closed early and there was no where to buy food or drink.I’ve given it 2 stars as we feel completely fleeced for parking as National trust members. We were charged £10 and we were only there half a day.

Empty due to the inclement weather so we got to park right outside the entrance. Expect to pay £12.50 for a stay of over four hours. They could provide shelter above the automated ticket payment machines though, as getting soaked whilst shelling-out £12.50 is not my idea of fun.

Complete rip off; £7 parking charge for a one hour visit ... no signs warning visitors of potential cost

This was my favourite place to be anywhere in the world. I've got a family NT membership renewed annually. I came here today with just my son to have a short wander and a spot of lunch.Lunch for me and him was £28! 1 can drink, 1 sausage roll, small dry pizza, saga loo salad and like 5 potato wedges. £28! OK, fine my choice - I'll be more discriminatory re food next time. Then though the icing on the cake after being in there for 70 mins (45 of which was spent in their cafe) I went to pay for parking to leave (rainy weather with a 6 year old) - which was another £7!! I was told NT members still pay for parking which is a rip off.I get inflation on products but this is simply profiteering. We've been coming here for decades. It's left a very bad taste in my mouth to be perfectly honest. I'm not a cheapskate whatsoever but I feel robbed. As sad as it is to say, I won't be coming back. Nymans or Borde Hill Gardens will get my business from now on.

Used to love this place but it leaves a bad taste in the mouth by discriminating against National Trust members by charging for parking. No other visitors have to pay and £5 for 2.5 hours/£10 for more is excessive and means you don’t really have time to enjoy the whole place without paying for a full day. The staff attempts to justify this makes you feel like they think they are doing you a favour. Give it a miss if you’re NT!

Wakehurst - beautiful place for nature lovers. It is worth taking a longer walk. A friendly place for families with children. If you prefer solitary walks, choose rather on a weekday.

I guess Kew maintain their ridiculous parking charge for NT members because they make a fortune from one off visitors who pay full whack, so why bother?

BE AWARE - You ONLY get charged if you are an NT member. If you pay for entry, either as a member or day visitor, the car park is 'included' (free).I can fully understand the negative comments about this in the reviews. I cannot help but feel there is something 'not quite right' about NT members de facto being charged for entry into an NT property. What a shame as the place is superb!!

Excellent car park at wakehurst the £1 uc concession rate includes car parking so we find that really helpful. The disabled parking is clearly labelled and easy to find - although there are not many disabled spaces.
